I bought this because I have a compact electronic piano setup in my apartment and needed a stool that wasn't going to have the square bottom that I'd end up having to step over as the piano is right next to my bed. This thing is great! It is clearly high quality and very comfortable. It's not absurdly squishy, but it is squishier than other piano benches. You will probably want to sit a bit on the edge of it if you're planning to play for a long time.
One thing I was worried about was how sturdy it would be. I wasn't sure if the bottom base would be wide enough to not be wobbly. I am happily surprised. The base is much wider than I imagined from the pictures, and I have had no problems with it. For reference, I am also using it on carpet, not a hard wood floor.
Please note that the top does swivel. So if you are used to a very rigid bench for your piano that won't swivel, this isn't it. It will swivel on you and there is not much resistance to stop it from doing so. It's a bit odd at first because it's a square top and round bottom, and the square rotates, so for example if you are playing the pedal a lot you may be accidentally swiveling yourself to mis-align the square from parallel to the edge of the piano, until you adjust it to match the way one leg is more out compared to the other. Just a fair warning.
Note that during assembly, there is a sticker on the pipe part that fits into the base. I forgot to take this off, and half of it is now stuck inside the base, and half still stuck on the pipe part. It looks messy, and I wish I had just taken it off before I put the two pieces together.
Finally, I think the bench looks professional. I considered getting a drum seat for my situation but they were all gaudy looking and shiny chrome, which would look ridiculous next to my keyboard. This seat fits the decor well and doesn't look out of place. It's a bit quirky, being a square barstool design, but not awkwardly.
