Killer bit of kit and inexpensive :D
Angelus502 16.07.2017
I'm really impressed.. This is the second one of these I have purchased. The last one went on a PRS SE and sorted out a few stability issues very well. The latest one I put on a Jem 555 I modded with a proper Floyd and EVH d-Tuna, it works perfectly holding the tuning on the other strings when drop tuned. I was also going to tune the Jem to E flat and drop C# with the d-tuna, but my string were a bit heavy, dropping tuning down to D and Drop C was as easy as on fixed bridge guitar, no messing about having to re-tune the strings and adjust the tension on the trem springs :D

Pro's..
Cheap
Works
Easier than blocking
Easy to fit / remove

Cons.
Probably wont hold tuning with a broken string unless you wind the pre-load right up
No more trem flutter when sliding my hand of the wammy bar :(

Tricks for setup.
Wind on about 1/4 preload. It make it easy to fit and needs to be set around there for double bends and drop tune.
After its set up and holding the block - over tighten the trem springs a little.

Worth a try if you are looking at a trem setter, only takes 2 minutes to remove if you don't like it and will only leave 2 small screw holes.

Used to D-drop on an original Floyd Rose locking tremolo
Anonymous 01.05.2016
I bought this item in december 2014 and installed it on my Washburn Japan SEC's original Floyd Rose. Installation has been performed by an authorized luthier, the one that takes care of my guitars for many years.
I also had to ostall AllPArts Tremol No to make it work, as specified in instructions.

Pros
-easy to install
-simple to use
- well built
Cons
- no matter what you do, you will never be in perfect tune in both tunings (standard and D-dropped) because of the tension variations induced in the tuning system

If you play regularly in standard tuning and want ONLY to go D-dropped for a few chords, or just on stage - this item is a very good choice.
If you expect it to be in perfect tune and record in studio with it, you should definitely re-tune the guitar, especially if you play with keyboards/synthesizers.

Please note I wrote this review after trying, together with my luthier and a lot of internet research, all possibilities of installation and fine-tuning.

I hope this helps.

simple idea and design, big change
ozanerkal 23.02.2021
it is what it is, a very simple hack for your floyd rose bridge. but you must be aware of two things:
1. not for all floyd roses.. i have a few ibanez's but only one of them, a Jem Jr is compatible. not a problem for me as I knew it from the start.
2. not for floating floyd roses.. you need to block your FR to stop it from going high. otherwise the change in the E string tension will destroy your whole tuning. So I put a wooden block under the bridge to do the job.

Ok, but not worth it.
2mazzo 29.05.2020
The parts are ok and it is easy to install. What they dont tell you is that your guitar will go badly out of tune when you go from E to D. If you buy this make shure you buy a trem stabilizer like the Goldo black box or something similar. If you dont know how to set up a floyd and spring tension, dont buy it.

Essential for trems and easy drop D tunings
Anonymous 23.05.2016
I bought this for a fully floating Charvel So Cal. Usually it would be necessary to ensure the trem is set to 'dive only', when using a D-tuna, however, to retain the fully floating trem you can use a Göldo Back Box with this to allow your trem to fully float, and it won't go out of tune when you pull the D-tuna.

Pros:
Easy drop tuning on double locked trems
Can be used with a Göldo Back Box to keep the trem fully floating
Great quality
Easy to install and set up.

Con:
None

Works smoothly.
Connor S. 08.11.2014
Bought this to fit to a Kramer '84 model guitar that has 1000-series Floyd Rose. Installation was simple and the kit includes all the instruction and tools you'll need to get the D-Tuna fitted in no time.

The unit is nice and smooth in operation and once set up properly will get you accurately from E to D ( or anything other whole-step) every time.

Amazing feature!
csGuitar 06.07.2023
I installed it in a couple of minutes. Very easy to use. I really suggest this feature. I installed it on an evh guitar, so the Floyd rose it's already not floating. This makes it easier to install.
Great feature.

Good, but not always 100% accurate
James2603 11.11.2014
The D-Tuna is easy to fit with your Floyd Rose or Schaller/under licence Floyd Rose trems.

Watch out though! Just make sure there is enough clearance between your trem and the guitar body!
I wanted to fit it to my ESP STANDARD V-11, but because the Floyd Rose on this guitar is recessed into the body of the guitar, there isn't enough clearance for the D-Tuna, so the slightest movement on the trem backwards would cause the D-Tuna nut to snarl on the delicate guitar body. Not good!
Because of this, I fitted the D-Tuna instead to my old Charvel Model 3, which has it's Schaller trem surface-mounted to the body.
Some say you shouldn't fit the D-Tuna to locking trems that are floating, but ALL locking trems are floating!!! There is no problem with this. "Locking Trem" simply means trems that have locking clamps at the headstock and locking clamps at the bridge, which they ALL do. These floating trems are what the D-Tuna was made for. Look at Eddie Van Halen's guitars.

However, playing with one can be fiddly, as sometimes the large, spring-loaded nut doesn't always spring back accurately into position for drop D, and likewise it is possible to not push it back into exactly the right position under the bridge to return to an accurate E pitch. A little lubricant can help with this though and it can be reliable.

In all it's a good, useful piece of kit.
