Audix D4

I'm using this on my 16" floor tom and love the sound I get - full, rich and deep.
Solidly built microphone, lovely build quality, though physically quite a large mic, and I can imagine this lasting for years and years of use.
I like it so much, I am going to buy a second one for my 14" tom to replace the Sennheiser I'm currently using.

Audix microphone are superb....this tom mic is no exception...great clarity and attack..cuts through a live mix. light weight easy to position.

Great for live and studio recording. I have mainly used it for recording floor tom, and that is the main purpose of this microphone. U can use it on bass drum or bass amp, but in my opinion it doesn't really work on those secondary applications so well. The primary application for this mic is floor tom recording. It works perfectly!!!! I love Audix microphones!!! Great quality, durability and you feel really good knowing you have got them in your collection.

I use this microphone for both my 18" floor tom and my bassdrum and I really like it. The sound is both warm and full but it still catches the attack.
The best thing here is the crafting. I can't imagine this microphone might break in any way thus it is perfect for on-stage usage.

I have a set of three D4's. I use it on two floor toms and one bigger rack tom. They instantly produce a great powerfull and clear sound that sits nicely in a mix, even without adding EQ and compression. They are small and rugged. I attach them with K&M 24030 drum clips, also available at Thomann. I gave 'Features' only three stars, because, well, it is a mic and it has no features. You just point it at the drum and that's it.

The audix D4 is for me the best floor tom mic with almost no need for EQ. Great low frequency response and punchy sound. I play metal and like the sturdyness of the capsule, and it can definitely take a hit or two without breaking (unlike Shure SM57). I would however recommend to buy another tom mount than the audix ones as they are made of plastic and hard to fixate (they tend to rattle a bit and not stay in place). I bought a kit of microphones and one additional D4 for the extra floor tom i have and it sound awesome.

I use Audix D4 for my floor toms. Every sound tech that has had the opportunity to mix the sound have remarked how good the drums sound. If you want modern sounding drum mics with the just right amount of pre-eq, theese are the ones you are looking for. I'm very happy with mine as they give me the sound I want.

I know have a complete set of Audix drum mics and they are unbelieveable. D2 on toms, D4 on floor tom and D6 in kick. I upgraded to these from a cheaper 'set' and was dubiopus as to wether I would notice any difference. After listening to my kit out front (someone else playing) my jaw almost fell to the floor. Highly recommended!!

We needed a reinforcement for our Audix 4 pieces drum kit (kick, snare & 2 OH) and it works fine.
The sound is magnificent, impressive and now we have full coverage for recording and live performance
