Although Humfrees are designed to reduce potential groundloops, I actually use them primarily as washers to avoid getting rack rash on my gear. They've helped me keep some of my rack gear looking new for over 10 years now, but they can be very fiddly to use. Furthermore, if you move your gear in and out of the rack often, they will tend to wear out eventually, so I've had to replace them from time-to-time. However, given that they're relatively expensive, I think they're more than worth the price.
