Wired Lav Mic
No Nayme 22.10.2020
I needed a wired lav mic for giving online lectures, a simple to use microphone, decent length cable, (no need for wireless interfaces), clean and clear sound, requires phathom power, so this may be a consideration for some.

Does exactly what I need, sound is clean, clear and realistic, sounds like being in the room. Quite an open and natural sound.

Tends to work better the closer you can get this to your face. although the sound is good and natural wherever you put it, you do need more gain the further away it is, and I've found that noise can be a slight issue (think its more the interface than the microphone), but this may be a consideration for some.

The microphone is omni - so it picks up equally well in all directions - this is great, for clipping it on and just working away - though not great when you're in a meeting and an ice cream van pulls up outside, and everyone can hear it clearly (again situational and not really the microphone at fault - but could be a consideration if you've to deal with a noisier environment).

I use it with the pop filter on, and have found that this pops off the microphone easy enough, when putting on taking off - have had to search around the floor a few times to find it after its popped off.

Comes with a clip and a case
Clip is sturdy, could easily run two off the same clip, if you were using this for broadcast and wary of one going down.
The case is a cloth type case - won't really offer any protection - not a strong case - the case also feels a little small - packing the microphone and the cable and xlr into the case is a little cramped, I'd be wary that the tight packing this requires could damage the cable at some point. Though if you're using some other transportation method, different bag, slot in a hardcase - this possibly wont be an issue.

Well, I am not sure...

Price and features ar pretty good, thats why I bought it.

But after 4 Recordings I didnt manage to get a decent sound out of it.
(I am professional musician an Projectstudio owner for about 20 years, I think I know how to handle a mic)
First time with my gain staging I do most of the time, I had a very bad and loud humming on the recording. Actually the recording was useless. With the following, i tried more subtle gainstaging, with way less gain. The humming was still there, but way lower and the sound got awkwardly high-mid-heavy and sounds almost distorted. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong with the positioning of the mic. But as I said, after 4 recordings, no decent signal. I think, I will ask Thomann to return the mic.

AKG C 417 PP? Go ahead! It's a fantastic microphone!
ASBender 05.03.2019
A few months ago I bought an AKG C 417 PP lavalier microphone and, I assure you, I?m delighted with this equipment. As a professor and video classes producer, I use my AKG attached to a TASCAM DR-44WL voice recorder (that I?ve bought at Thomann as well) and the results are amazing. As a omnidirectional condenser microphone (it needs a phantom power to work correctly), the recordings are clear and with no environmental noises or echoes, being extremely good. In short, I strongly recommend the AKG C 417 PP microphone!

Good build quality, solid XLR connector and reasonable frequency pickup. But TERRIBLE amounts of self-noise make this almost unusable for live applications. Paired with noise reduction software (FIR in Reaper), it's usable on recorded tracks. But its annoying having to do this extra step.
