If your looking for a head that will get rid of overtones, rings and zings that are unsavoury but still allows the true tone and nature of the drum through then this is it! It has more purchase in this respect than the StudioX head. It also delivers a better and truer sound than the Evans equivalent the Genera dry and HD heads which I find to be a bit plastic in the sound. This Aquarian head has a natural feel to it. There is definately no need for moon gel, tape or any extra muffling. This is not the head for you if you want ring and open tones. I have it on a maple snare and it is amazing. I'd be interested to know how it would tame down a steel snare, that are notoriously ringy!

That coating and the power.

I like my snare pretty high but with almost 0 ring and this head made my day. It's a great head for brushes as the coating is heavy is makes the brushes sound awesome. Also thanks to the ring under the head almost no muffling needed.
