Yes, it IS better than most rubber strings I have tried. But the bar is pretty low.
The texture is supposed to be anti-sticky but with just the right amount of hand sweat, it starts to stick. The sound is pretty good, no complaints there, but I still prefer metal strings.
One thing to mind: I got these for a Fender u-bass, that originally comes with metal strings. As these are MUCH thicker than metal strings, and there's no option to raise/lower the bridge, the intonation becomes way off with these installed, due to the overall center of the strings being raised.
I assume if your u-bass comes with rubbers by default, this is less of a concern, but still, there can be differences between rubbers too so be careful, do your research.
