Great unit

You can connect your monitor speaker directly to the ART headamp and it works as a true bypass with signal passing through even if the unit is switched off.

Almost Perfect

Really clean sounding amp, drives all my different headphones nicely. Would like to see a mute functionality but that's not too important.

Let down where the L/R balance on the headphones goes funny at lower power levels, thankfully there is a L/R adjustment knob for this.

Otherwise, superstar amp!

S
Versatile and comprehensive headphone distribution
Sonovox 30.08.2013
Let's get some of the preliminaries out of the way first: As you can see, I've rated 5 stars on every aspect of the unit, so that should let you know first off that it is well built, has a bucket load of features and it sounds great... so what else is there to say about it?

I use the Headamp 6 Pro in a small recording studio setup. I already owned a number of different pro headphones - Sony 7506's, Beyer DT100s and so on - but not enough to record a full rock band set up in a live situation, where the drummer and vocalist were isolated from the rest of the band. I looked at a number of the headphone amps out there at the time. I didn't particularly need 6 channels, but one feature on the Headamp 6 drew me to choose it, and that was the individual 'more me' inputs on the rear, and a Direct In jack on the front. With a 4 piece rock band to record, I bought the Headamp6 along with 4 pairs of Extreme Isolation EX29 headphones.

I started off with it wired so that each band member had an individual mix of their own, with each aux output from the desk sent to individual 'more me' sockets on the rear of the unit. It didn't take long for me to reset the whole thing so that the main inputs on the rear accepted the live mix I was monitoring from, with each 'more me' input now only recieving whatever exra each musician wanted to hear (...mostly just more of themselves, hence the 'more me' moniker!). This was much easier to handle from my point of view, and although it sounds like a compromise from the band members, none of them were unhappy with what they were getting in their phones, and with each of them able to balance the mix between 'main' and 'more me' inputs, I left them to set their own headphone levels and mix choice from the front panel. Everyone happy.

Lastly, as an audio 'notepad' the band had recorded their pre-session rehearsals on a Zoom recorder, and with this plugged into the Direct In socket on the front, they were able to play this back in order to refer back to any notes they made as they prepped for the recording session. A real time saver.

Top marks for this unit. Even after the rare event for me of recording a band in one go is over, the versatility of the unit means I can cater for anything coming in the door now. A great addition to any small studio, and the high quality for all aspects means it would also be good enough to cut it in bigger studios too.

Would I buy again if it was lost? Yes. In a heartbeat.

S
Amazing headphone amp
StergiosCozy 13.05.2019
I have it for 2 weeks now and i used it a lot. It is amazing how loud you can hear your music without having any distortion. An also awesome feature is that you can set your output from your interface straight in the headamp 6 pro input and from the through output in the speakers and the signal goes though even if headamp pro is off!!!
The only con i could find is that the rack holes were too small and it was REALLY hard to fit the screws in so i can set it in my rack.
Otherwise and when it comes to the quality of the sound or the build itself its simply insane!

A
good solid versitile headamp
Anonymous 30.05.2016
I love some of the Art products, if you familiar you will know how solid they can be built, and the same goes here for this head amp, I have only put this into practical use once so far, and that was in a open hall with full drums, guitar and bass amps, using isolation headsets, jam and record whilst monitoring via this head amp, headphones volume was sufficient (we play quite heavy), the more me feature is also a bonus ideal for not just a more me but for example adding a metronome etc, all in all a great buy, and im very pleased with the unit

I love this Headphone Amp
Anonymous 01.03.2017
Got the Headamp Pro to go with my RML16 for my semi pro / Home Studio. I wanted to provide individual head phone mixes to my bands and wanted a flexible solution.
The RML has 16 aux mixes so I am not short of flexibility but I liked the idea of the master mix vs direct input feature. This allows you to mix a direct input into a channel with the master mix.
It has thru XLR outputs to allow chaining but I feed my master mix into the Art and then drive my monitors from the thru.

The individual channel inputs will take mono, balances mono or stereo inputs and you can select which channel to bring in and how that will blend. Mono from left to left ear or both, from right to right ear or both and at the same time blend with the master or just use, as I do to take a mono balanced aux mix and present it as left and right mono ear phone mix.

Can't recommend this enough and a must for a band who all want their own mix!
