Audeze Maxwell for PlayStation

I tried really hard to like this headset from Audeze. The build quality feels solid, which is also backed up by the half kilo of material you strap onto your head.

The headband. The leather strap comes with 3 sets of holes on each side, so unless your head is perfectly fitted (out of the 3 options they give you) you will have to deal with an asymmetrical setup. To change the position you will have to pull the strap out from the pegs on the side of the headset and plop it back in again, which you cannot do without mildly harming the leather strap.

Once I found a setting I could live with, I put it on, and I noticed two things. The sound is amazing, and wow is this thing heavy.

It didn't occur to me at first, but I was moving around the headset on top of my head to find spots that weren't sore after wearing the headset. The leather strap is very hard, and it's carrying a lot of weight, which lead to a lot of fatigue from wearing it, rather quickly.

There are many discussions on reddit where people have found various kinds of padding that they have applied to the strap to get more comfortable. I felt like I didn't want to spend more money on a headset that already cost €350.

Lastly the microphone. It seems to be a lottery, some people have no issue with the microphone, others have nothing but issues. Some say it's only for discord, others say it all around. My friends told me that it "sounds like i am talking through a pillow". I guess I was just unlucky with the microphone? Audeze has a guide on how you can change some settings, but since I have multiple headsets, I didn't want to make significant changes to discord because of one headset.

The sound is nothing but amazing, and it's the reason I kept trying to find ways to make the headset work even though my head was hurting from wearing it.

Keep it mind, I was wearing it for 4-8 hours a day. If you are only going to wear it for 2-3 hours sessions every now and again, the fatigue might be less significant.

Seriously, but at your own risk. There are a lot of people out there praising it as the best wireless headset around, I would've wished to be one of those people.

Coming from hyperx cloud i can speak as average home user. Headset is perfect in every single way. Build, comfort and SOUND. Sound is for me another level. In my own words: rich, clear and powerful. Audeze app is simple and eq provided with app is super. But if u wana unlock full potential of headset i recommend 3-party eq with more parametric features. Gaming, music, chatting.. look no further if you wana step up from average headphones. This will blow you away straight out of the box. Thank you seller for fast and professional service. Cheers

Als PC-Gaming Enthusiast, bin ich immer auf der Suche nach neuer Hardware, die mir mein Spieleerlebnis verbessert und mir zu mehr Freude beim Gaming verhilft. Da mir der Sound beim Gaming genauso wichtig ist, wie hohe und konstante Bildraten, teste ich immer mal wieder die neuen "High End" Gaming-Headsets die sich gerade auf dem Markt befinden. Durch Zufall bin ich beim Stöbern auf Youtube auf das Audeze Maxwell gestoßen und war sofort Feuer und Flamme. Da mir die Firma Audeze bereits durch das Penrose bekannt war, habe ich nicht lange gezögert und mir das Maxwell bestellt. Vielen Dank an Thomann an dieser Stelle, für den Exzellenten Service und die schnelle Lieferung! Das Maxwell kam schnell an und das Unboxing ging genauso Zügig von statten. Das Headset hat eine Top Verarbeitungsqualität und fühlt sich sehr wertig an. Die Earpads und das Kopfband habe ich direkt gegen die Äquivalente der Firma Wicked Cushions ausgetauscht. Der Tragekomfort ist dadurch noch mal um 100% besser geworden. Und nun zum Hauptaspekt dem Sound: Das Audeze Maxwell habe ich in Verbindung mit der Dolby Access App am PC betrieben und nach dem ersten Dolby Atmos Trailer war klar, dass dieses Headset in einer ganz neuen Liga der Gaming Headsets spielt. Das Turtle Beach Pro Stealth, das Astro A50, und das Steelseries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless, können beim Thema Musik, und Film in keinster Weise mithalten. Das Maxwell klingt einfach so viel besser.. auch in Singleplayer/Multiplayer Games liefert es ein grandioses Soundspektakel ab. Lediglich beim Thema Ortung in kompetitiven Spielen waren die Kontrahenten von Steelseries und besonders das Turtle Beach etwas besser. Dennoch bin ich beim Maxwell geblieben und bereue es in keinster Weise. Das Mikrofon, dass in Zusammenarbeit mit Shure entwickelt wurde klingt auch sehr gut und die Noise Suppression Funktion arbeitet einwandfrei. Über das Gewicht des Headsets lässt sich streiten, mit knapp 500 Gramm ist es sicher kein Leichtgewicht, dafür bekommt man aber auch einen Akku, der 80h+ schafft. Wer also nicht nur Shooter spielt und die Ortung auf höchstem Niveau benötigt, sondern auch gerne mal Musik hört, oder einen Film am Rechner schaut, aber dennoch eine außerordentlich gute Leistung in Spielen haben möchte, für den ist das Maxwell die richtige Wahl! Klare Kaufempfehlung meinerseits.
