Worth every penny
susman 19.07.2019
I was looking for a good quality IEMs, mainly for HiFi and some monitoring on-the-go.

I tried quite a few different IEMs, including these praised Chinese "5 BAs/3 BA+Dynamic" miracles. Spoiler alert: don't fall for it, Chinese may put 10 BA drivers into one earphone, but there's no proper engineering/tuning, so it really doesn't matter how many drivers they may put, if they don't tune them.

I stopped my search once I heard ATH-E70. This pair is just the best 300 EUR can get.

It's 3 BA drivers, very well engineered, very balanced sound - although it does depend a lot on silicone/foam buds you'd be using.

None of the included silicone buds ( foam buds cut highs, I dropped them immediately ) fit my ears, I have generic replacement buds lying around that fit very well, so that ( the only ) problem is solved.

ATH-E70 are highly recommended for any application IEMs may be used for.

Never been as dissapointed in a pair of IEMs as with these.
radumuntean 27.12.2023
I've been playing live for over 10 years and also work as a FOH engineer. I ordered these based on the many many great reviews, thinking they couldn't miss on a price tag so high.

These are honestly one of the worst pairs of IEMs I've tried. Contrary to the reviews:
- They have little to no bass (tried with all rubber & foam fits). Was taken aback by this as all reviews said the bass is heavy.
- They have a horrible splashy high frequency boost (5-6K) that needs heavy EQing, and no 'air' or presence.
- They are flat as can be, even flatter than my HD650's mixing headphones. They sound like the heapdhones you get to use on an airplane.

I can't believe it, I am not saying this lightly: I am EXTREMELY dissapointed.

For this price tag I expected stellar sound. I honestly can't believe it and almost feel like I've gotten a different or malfunctional product from what's been advertised. They sound worse than my 100EUR Shures that have a nice rounded bass. Hell, they sound worse than my Anker bluetooth in-ears or the 70eur cheap chinese pair of IEMs that own.

I just can't explain this.

The only thing that these have going for them is really really good isolation and comfort. Build quality is also good.

Will return these ASAP.

Serious upgrade from SE215
GarethOB 16.10.2019
I used to use a set of SE215s for my in ear monitoring but it always felt very muddy/poorly defined. I thought this was down to getting a mono feed, but a friend encouraged me to upgrade.

It's a night and day difference with the ATH-e70. They are more expensive, but a good bit cheaper than the triple driver shures, and honestly they're at least as good. It's made a world of difference with my in ear monitoring!

T
Excellent and value for money IEM
Tim1959 17.07.2019
I have been researching the best possible IEM at a sensible price for some time now. Previously I used a Klipsch X10i which has proved OK but lacking in a balanced output - not enough lower mid and bass. At any rate, they are literally falling apart!
I trust Audio Technica as a company and the ATH-E70s confirmed this trust. Excellent build quality and really comfortable. Soundwise - again, excellent ie reasonably balanced across the range with no glaring issues. Great sound stage and dynamics. Bass is a tad elevated with a complete ear seal, but I'd rather that than be irritated by excessive treble.
Only gripe - had to buy some large comply tips. Not much to moan about then :-)
Thomann also excellent - extra year warranty the reason I went with them.
