Warmy dude
Well, maybe one of the best investing in my studio.
Warm, soft, full body sound.
Most of all I use it in piano and voice recording.
I have a Grand Piano Yamaha GB1, and it is about 11 years in exploitation. Grand piano now has a bright and a bit striking sound. But with that mic - I achieved a warm and beautiful tembre, maybe a bit vintage sound. But it is amazing. Especialy, for that price.
Also tested it with RODE K2. In my opinion - CV-12 is more "tube" mic, than K2. Without metal in high freq.
Pros:
- Great, warm sounding mic
- Balanced frequency responce
- Comfortable case for transporting
- Pleasant design
Cons:
- The shockmount is not strong enough. Requires carefull managing. It is very easy accidentally to take off the rubber and drop the mic.
- Placement of XLR sockets and turn on button on power supply is not very comfortable for managing.

Powerful Microphone in its Price Class
This mic has been a wonderful addition to my tool box. The warmth that it provides on vocals is excellent, it captures acoustic instruments well, and the switchable polar patterns make it very versatile.
They made the effort to present it well in the delivery also. The case is great and the wooden box is wonderful as a display in the studio, but let's talk about sound:
I definitely need to use a Deesser when working with this mic.
At times it can almost be a bit too bright, but it's nothing that some decent EQ can't fix.
Pros:
- Great warmth with vocals and acoustic instruments
- Sturdy build quality and nice extra features (ex: polar patterns)
- Competitive sound quality for the price
Cons:
- A little too bright in some situations (personal opinion)
- Some touchy frequencies need EQing at times depending on input
- Only available in red
I'll finish by saying that I went to Thomann's mic testing room and ran through nearly every single one of the mics they had on display. This mic is (without question) very unique in its tone. I recommend at least trying it out. Well worth it.

Overrated
There’s something strange going on in the high mids and treble. I was using a Rode NT1-A before upgrading to this, and honestly, the Rode was better—it sounded flatter. Sure, this one is more open, but if it’s not quality openness, then who cares?

Huge step up
Only got this mic a short while ago, but it's already dramatically changed the level of recordings I can make.
I use it primarily on vocals, but also on acoustic guitar and percussion.
Works beautifully with no fuss, gorgeous construction. Couldn't recommend more highly.

Great mic, especially if you're getting your first tube condenser or up grading from something like a Rode NT1. The mic itself is built beautiful, the power box and pin connections feel a little on the cheap side but if you are really careful and look after it ,it should last, really versatile changable poler patterns.
Sounds lovely on acoustic, vocal , mono drum overhead, anything. Great piece of kit to have . Have mine 2 years, and it's still kicking ass.
If your thinking of upgrading and wanna get a bit more fancy . Go for it.
Well worth the price range

Excellent tube mic for the price...
offering room for the easy and not so expensive upgrades as well.
It sounds great on vocals and acoustic instruments and after several years of use it still gets on the stand even though there are several more expensive and more reputable microphones in the drawer. We achieved great results with several CV12s on a baroque recorder quartet.
It offers everything what you expect from a tube mic, all of that at an affordable price.

It's budget, and it shows
Got the mic as I was interested to see what the effect of a tube mic would be on some sources. The mic disappointed sonically. It lacked lower mid's and it has a very annoying frequency around 4-5kHz, which needed a 15db cut to get rid off. Also the spin isn't very strong. As soon as you put a little force on it, the elastics detach and aren't very easily repositioned. Sold it after 2 months.

Perfect for Vocals
Got this mic a few months back and it has not ceased to amaze with the sound. Built quality is also impeccable as it feels super sturdy and well built. Would definitely recommend for a vocal main either for male or female vocal.
