Handy to have in your toolbox, beware of distortion
E-Engineer 08.06.2020
I carry one around in my gig bag since it is small and versatile.
There is one attenuation knob which acts on both inputs, so I primarily use it for stereo sources such as keyboards, tablets, laptops and DJ booth.
I have had mixed results with guitar/bass, the unit distorts to easy in my opinion, forcing you to pad the input even though the signal is not that hot.
It is not as well build as the DI100 (which you can throw from the top of a building and it will still work) and you should keep it away from mains transformers.
For the price, the size and the features it is a good unit.

It is good to have one of them as a quick and cheap solutions. Don't expect the best sound but it is fair enough. Great cheap solutions especially for stereo out like keys.

A
Noisy, but handy in live situations
Anonymous 02.05.2015
We first got one of these to help route some things in our rehearsal space (mostly to split the kick drum signal to the main mixer and to our drummers in-ear monitors). It was very useful as a splitter in a rehearsal situations.

Next we tried to get the DI signal of the guitar to do some reamping later and found it to be very noisy. It added a lot of noise to the whole DI track and made it completely unusable as a DI ( in the end we ended up using a Behringer mixer for the DI signal).

What made us decide to purchase several more? When in a live situation where you don't 100% know what in house gear you end up using these can give you a lot of flexibility. If you are just starting out and are not sure what you are going to need then bringing a few of these DI boxes with you can help you in unseen situations.

Does what it says it will
Justin616 03.07.2015
not the best made (metal but flimsy) but it does what it says. Have used within band to either route 2 ukuleles through to PA or to route 1 ukulele to PA and use the second out to route to amp for monitor purposes. Can be either battery powered (9v) or phantom powered.

Other reviews have talked about hissing and humming when used by phantom power but I have not experienced this. This is a budget priced item and with my 6 piece band I have not noticed and issues with sound. If using in studio you may want to invest more in a decent Studio quality DI box.

Cheap cheerful, works, don't mind it they get kicked around. If they get damaged I will but some more.

Classic fallback DI option
Matthew1271 07.04.2015
These boxes have been around for years and I have to say they are an excellent back up. The fact they come in such a small form factor in a rugged metal case offering stereo outputs is pretty awesome given the price point. It's only when you use something like a Radial DI that you'll notice any improvement in quality.

I use this as a backup for when touring and frankly if I'm at a good venue, they'll have superior DI's but if I'm in a not so good venue, where they don't have good conditioned equipment, this DI is a perfect portable option.

A
Entirely reasonable budget option with plenty features
Anonymous 07.01.2015
Behringer can sometimes send chills down the spine of sound professionals and the DI20 is certainly nothing incredible. However it is also inexpensive and thus a good option for venues where gear takes a physical pounding and is prone to breakage or a lot of drinks are flying around (see heavy metal/punk especially).
To its credit, it also offers fair adaptability serving as a pair of mono's or a tidy compact stereo, plus offering lines out and the usual pads and grounding switches.
These can get a bit crunchy as they age but in all truth they do an aceptable job you may not want to risk other high-end products on.

I don't use di boxes generally but got this to put in my gig case for odd occasions. Apart from not having much expertise in these products it seemed to do what it said on the box.
Used it as a splitter for the bass guitar to send signal to desk and amp separately which worked fine,
Also used it for low level acc. Guitars going into the pa, which nicely boosted the signal.
Although it is at the low budget end of di boxes , I am pleased with its function.

Disappointingly Low Output
Derek S. 14.01.2020
I wanted to use this to send an electric guitar signal back to the desk but the output volume was extremely low compared to running a jack directly
