Behringer Powerplay P16-M Personal Mixer

No complaints about the device itself it's a lifesaver. Handy, useful and what not. It works flawlessly. Recommend it big time to anyone who still uses stage wedges (really, just cut this already - it's just a bad habit).
My only gripe is about the way Behringer / Thomann have worked out the transportation issue: the aluminium case that Thomann recommends with it is only 50% useful - you see PM16 needs a "shoe" that connects to it underside. This metal plate , once screwed onto the device, makes the whole case unusable (read: it will not fit into the case anymore. So I have been srcewing and unscrewing this plate EVERY FREAKING GIG and it's driving me crazy! The tiny screws that come with it are almost unique - I have no idea what to do if I lose them (tbh already lost one). So somebody should pay more attention to the transportation issues next time. So far I have not been able to find a ready-made, 100% fitting solution for this problem. But again, this has nothing to to with the product directly, although it affects directly the user experience...

My band has now gone studio-digital, so I had to get one (as in: don't be the only Luddite, not as in: I-gotta-get-me-one-of-these). The effect on my playing, our tightness, my ears, and the poor guy who didn't get one yet has been phenomenal, electric even. Within a couple of days we are in a new performance league. Without exaggeration, the new set-up (1 x P16-I and 4 x P16-M) has transformed the quality of our rehearsals and recording sessions. With good quality noise-blocking headphones, the P16-M allows individual mixing to suit each player's taste and prevents the external reflections bouncing around the studio from masking the purity of the sounds being recorded and played to. Fine adjustment of the instrument channels takes a bit of time, but the effort is worth it. All in all, a nice bit of gear and well worth the investment.

Have been using it on the road for the past 7 years with my jazz electronics band and it has never failed.
It has all the features you'd expect from a studio monitor mixer but at this price point it's a great setup for live bands that want to do their own mixes for monitoring. You could even connect it to an active floor monitor if you don't like in-ears.

I have a 2U rack with the central module and a cheap focusrite 8 channel soundcard. I then get the channels I need from the FOH, hook them to the soundcard which is then connected to the behringer central module via adat. That allows to easily send 8 channels digitally to the behringer card and allows me to accept XLR from the venue (with the possibility of adding gain if needed). If you need more channels it's easy to hook up two adat connections for 16 channels. You don't need a sound card for this to work, but it makes it easier and more flexible to do the routing.
This setup also allows me to record the gigs multi-track easily.
