If you clicked here, then you know that this is a TB-303 clone, aware that there are hundreds of reviews about Behringer's TD-3 out there, all of which praise the acid sound, the machine's uniqueness as well as its great price. But - why Tangerine, when it is even slightly more expensive than the others?
This synth is a faithful reproduction to the original, which was released in 1982. While 40 years later the sound remains the same, i wished for a more contemporary look. The orange plastic is transparent, and it is such a joy playing the TD-3 while also seeing the circuitry underneath. It gives the feeling of an edge to it like no other colour does.
The modded version of the TD-3 has now been released, actually a few weeks after i ordered this model. While the sub-oscillator is certainly appealing, I have no second thoughts about this one. Having a clone to the original as it was designed is always special, like having a piece of history in the studio. For me, the aesthetic and form quality of the TD-3-TG is a winner.
Finally, well done to Thomann for the packaging. Being environmentally-conscious, I loved the paper packaging and spacing. Plastic was really kept to a minimum. In fact i used it all for my compost.
Great product, contemporary aesthetics, fast and professional delivery. Five stars all around!
