Ridiculous price for some great sounds, enclosure is it's weak point

I wanted a vibrato for a while, my dream was a Chase Bliss Warped Vinyl but the price on that is (while probably justified) just too high.
The Boss VB-2w is a little lower but still on the high side for my sporadic use of the effect.

I then saw a video on the JHS youtube channel where the old original Boss vibrato was compared to the behringer because they have the EXACT same schematic and sounded EXACTLY the same.
And it does sound amazing !

I did mod the effect to have a lower rate (google it).

It still is a Behringer and therefor a plastic housing that's not properly shielded, therefor the noisefloor is not as low as a Boss for example, but on clean tones it basically isn't noticeable.

It's a reproduction of a classic vibrato
duckbo 26.01.2021
This sounds good. You can use it for a little accent here and there, or play whole chord progressions with either a subtle effect, or sounding quite disjointed.

The pots are looser than other behringer pedals - there seems to be a lot of variance in quality of these, and the output jack is very stiff (something I experienced with another pedal).

If you expect the jacks to possibly be stiff and pots to have differing levels of stiffness, you won't be disappointed by the sound.

A welcome addition to the kit

I'll say it again ? it does what it is supposed to! And at this price (a fraction of the currently available Boss VB-2W), it is worth getting if only to find out what this effect could do for your setup.

This has proven quite useful to me when kept immediately before all other effects. Does not hurt to turn it on once in a while to hear what it does to the rest of the chain, as it didn't add any terrible amount of noise (not enough to notice, that is). For example, it adds a chorus-like edge to any distorted/fuzz tones, and any type of delay becomes 'modulated' without actually using a mode with that name.

Using the 'unlatch' mode on a regular basis is likely not to be recommended, though, considering the plastic enclosure and the microswitch that is inside (and that, in turn, renders the 'rise' knob completely useless). This is definitely all a different story on the Boss that supposedly inspired this pedal.

Beware that the rate knob at its minimum setting is not very slow. But that is to be expected from an analog effect (from what I understand about them, anyway). Therefore, if you're looking to emulate shoegaze-type whammy chords (without an actual whammy bar), you're much better off looking at digital solutions.

pretty good copy of the boss vb-2
thomannhero 27.06.2023
There is a lot to like abput this pedal. First of all, it's cheap. Second it has neat features and it's easy to understand and control. It took me no time to find sound that i would use in recording situations. Of course, there are some flaws: it does have a hissing sound in the background sometimes when it's turned on. The other thing is that it's a plastic pedal. So if you're not careful you can break it. But then you can just buy another one for 30eu. So...

Greatest value for money ever. If you don't mind the plastic the sound is great. It's supposed to be a clone of the famous boss one, I haven't compared them, but really satisfied with the way the pedal sounds.

Does what it is supposed to do.
Nice to have the mode options.
Low cost, slightly noisy, put in a separate loop to mitigate.
