Definetly worth a try.

I have to say that I first dindn't fully know what to expect from this pedal. I was familiar with the Boss brand before, of course, having had a Boss ME-70 Multi-effect board, but i hadn't tried out a single distortion stompbox before this one. However, I am happy to say that it lived up to my expectations.

It is easy to handle and the middle boost gives you enough options to play everything from Bluesrock to the shredding guitar solos of both Heavy- and Thrash-metal. If it's combined with a sustain pedal the distortion value also goes to another level.
The only not so positive thing worth mentioning is the sound quality, which sounds a bit digital at low volume level, but when turning it up a bit it creates a powerful distortion, worth playing with at your band practice, live and in the studio (Yes, I have made some home recordings using the Boss DS-2 pedal).

So, the conclusion is that; if you want a distortion pedal that is easy to handle, has a good tone for live playing and practicing etc. and still affordable, then the Boss DS-2 is one for you.

A bit more bass full than the original DS-1
DickPuound 06.07.2021
My only complain is that if you owe an old DS-1, this one is a bit more bass heavy than an original, it also has a higher volume level, which is not bad.
The turbo feature is good if you're looking for more pronounced mid/high range distortion.
The distortion feels very similar to the original DS-1, a bit more throaty but I like it.
Quality is top, as all other Boss pedals.

The Strat Distortion Pedal
Anonymous 26.02.2014
I own this effect for a few years an I still like it. In connection with my Stratocaster it produce a unique distortion sound like no other pedal. You get the legendary Frusicante Sound which has so many fans all over the world. But i have a few problems with the pedal without using it on the road. After a few month I have to repair the input because of a loose screw. Another important point is that I do not like the sound in connection with a Les Paul. I can not really explain it, but it sounds not good to me. I would recommend it for every Frusciante Fan and Strat user but Les Paul players should test it very good before buying.
