Less is more?

After playing and tweaking for years, my favorite pickups sets are Bkp Riff Raff, Stormy Mondays, Duncan Amos or Pearly gates.
After seeing and hearing reviews about these pickups, I got excited. Once installed, the sound was amazing! Like a tele on steroids!
Most paf sets tend to feel a bit weak compared to modern pickups.
(I never got along with the Amber '59 set for example)
Play around with pickup height and adjust the pole pieces,
and you get all the bang you want still with the cleaner, vintage vibes. Now the downside:
everywhere I see these pickups advertised in a box with a set of strings and a slide. Not in my case. Two pickups and two picks.
To my surprise there weren't even screws or springs included!
When you pay these prices for a set, you expect a bit more than that... Luckily I had some spares laying in a drawer...
So feature-wise: meh...
Tone-wise: Hoooooly cow!!!
