Hello, long time bass playa, always loved the sound of Rotosound 66 strings but, those steel babies WILL eat your frets!!!
When one project band needed a "darker" sound, I tried the Daddario EXL165... nickel strings are easy on the frets and the tone is primo...

I'd forgotten how much I dislike XLs...

Very clanky when new, feels kinda stiff under the fingers and they don't last very long.
I've never been a big fan of the D'Addario sound/feel but it had been over a decade since the last time I tried them so I thought I'd give them another chance. I still don't like them. Apart from certain dirt cheap "in house" brands they're one of my least favourite bass strings.
If I need this style of sound I'd rather use the Fender 7250. They're made by D'Addario too and sound quite similar but with a bit more warmth/power in the lower mids.
Lots of people like them though. It's all about personal taste.

If you like your strings THIKK, get this set. I tuned it to C on a 4-string bass guitar (used .135 to .65) and it sounds huge.
