A timeless classic.

Like the other patterns available, dAndrea have done a brilliant job bringing back the "Ace" straps from the dead, far better than other imitators. The quality and accuracy are exactly where they should be.

This might be a slightly less famous pattern than the X&O Ace strap, and perhaps a little harder to "pair" with all guitar colours aesthetically, but it's just as classic, and again dAndrea get everything right. The cotton weave is scaled and coloured correctly, and it's also soft to the touch. Unlike some reissues and replicas, the backing to the woven strap is white leather as per the original, not black or tan, or even worse, stiff nylon webbing. The leather is also soft and flexible, and that makes for comfortable wearing.

What the picture does not show, which is true for the strap I received as is true for the originals in this and the other lighter colourways, is that the strap ends are also white leather. Why the image shows black ones I don't know, I can only suppose it was an earlier run or prototype and has since been "corrected" - the darker coloured options have black strap ends as per their original designs too.

It's a very good strap for the money, quality and appearance wise, worth spending a little more than for a more basic strap, especially if you want to channel that 60s/70s image. Accurate enough to look at home on a genuine vintage guitar, as well as reproduction/replica vintage guitars or even just timeless designs.

It doesn't match everything though. From experiment, in this colour and style, do pair with:
+ white, natural, and light/pastel finishes, including light sunbursts, and mid toned dyed woods.
+ vintage / retro / traditional guitars
+ S-style and T-style electric, 70s or earlier bass, and acoustic shapes

Avoid pairing with:
- dark or black finishes (the blue and white strap just looks... odd)
- tobacco or red-heavy sunburst finishes (as above)
- neon colours (just a clash of two eras of colours)
- 80s era (PRS-style) / superstrats / "progressive" / metal guitars
- "modern" basses

Obviously, aesthetics are always subjective but this perhaps gives a good flavour of how the strap "feels" to the wearer, at least this wearer.

Good for what it is, vintage look and vintage quality

Are you looking for a Vintage Ace strap, that is affordable and Ace quality? That's what this is.
I own the same Ace strap and I don't see much difference, the quality on the old ace straps is not too good either.
You can't comparable these or the old ace straps to the boutique copies that you see a lot these days made by companies like Couch and Souldier but you pay 3 times the price for those. This is a good strap with a vintage look. Maybe not ideal for intense gigging but good for a rock around the block.

It's a proper strap. There's some hard (metal?) parts sticking out which I covered with some fabric I still had... They could potentially damage the guitar so I just put it on my cheapest guitar. Other than that it's better than I expected from this fabric, it is rather nice on me. Still, leather would be a better choice for comfort, I just wanted something fancy looking as well.

I've been collecting all these retro Ace straps. This is my favourite, the picture doesn't really do it justice. sharp colours. nice.

Brilliant strap,

Very similar to the Planet Waves is quality and style

Noticed they are a bit shorter than the planet waves straps I have.

Possibly not as cushioned also - but this strap is still more than comfortable and sturdy.

Would potentially recommend this for lighter / slimmer guitars

Ace Stained GlassVintage Strap

I use this strap mainly for my electric-acoustic guitar, and it does the job very good.It is very well made and fits standard strap buttons. I guess that with the higher price you could get a better one, something like Fender and Gibson leather ones, or Minotaur, but in this price range i doubt that you will find a better one. Downside could be that it is not very long(tried it on my electric) but for acoustic its just fine.

Short Strap
Craig I. 05.04.2015
Pros:

This strap looks great
It is generally good quality.
It is well worth the price.

Cons:

It is a little short.
Metal buckle strikes guitar body.

I bought this to compliment my Harley Benton E-35 VS Vintage Series. Very attractive strap which I think looks great and retro. However on the E-35 I have to have this strap fully extended to get a decent fit ad that leaves the metal buckle very close to the guitar body. It is inevitable that there is contact and I know, over time, this will damage the guitar finish. I'm not particularly bothered by that, but if you are you should consider that when purchasing these otherwise great little guitar straps.
