This beater has been my absolute favorite. It gives the boom and decreased attack I have been looking for.
On the positive side, as mentioned earlier, is the sound and feel of the beater. It has been very helpful in the studio, when the artist desires to get a little bit old school sounding bass drum. Definitely a piece for vintage sound admirers.
Couple of negative sides there are. It does not take long, when the coated bass drum head gets covered with the red dust from the beater. Also, it tends to wear out relatively quickly, meaning that it is not that furry anymore. It does not affect the sound drastically, though.
Another "negative" side has been in live situations, when the FOH engineer is trying to get the "click" from the bassdrum, but it doesn't have it. Then usually I have told them before the soundcheck, that they shouldn't expect too much click from the bass drum and focus more on the boominess of it.
In the end, it is a great product and when mine wears out completely, i will buy it again.
