Excellent mouthpiece for Brass Band
RobSop 02.08.2017
An excellent choice for a brass band flugel player with strong chops...it's a large mouthpiece with an extremely deep cup, but that volume gives such a warm and incredibly mellow sound with minimal effort that it's worth spending the time to build up stamina for! Maybe less suitable for a jazz flugel player, as it is extremely deep, requiring a lot of support in the upper register and gives a much less "direct" sound than often expected in big bands etc, but certainly a fantastic addition to any flugel player's equipment.

Good full flugelhorn sound
John3864 22.02.2014
I have started playing brass again recently and borrowed a flugelhorn. The loan included a Denis Wick 2fl m/piece. DW recommends this model. It has been a huge improvement on my previous experience of flugelhorns. I have now purchased my own and been practising hard. Timbre is excellent from the lowest G and running up the range is smooth and without a "step." It produces a rich full sound AND is easy to play. Some years ago I sold a Getzen flugelhorn because I found it hard going. I've since tried it with this m/piece and now regret selling. So I'd recommend this mouthpiece. When younger I might have gone for a more extreme mouthpiece but my more mature view is that it is more sensible to get an all round mouthpiece and make it do what one wants. Practice is highly recommended, as is listening to great players. Thomann's price is very attractive. The mouthpiece arrived quickly and safely.
