top quality product

top quality case with the well known top quality doepfer PSUs!
only things that gets me down but still can live with them.

1. its hard to add the screws in the top line of the angled row
2. the depth of the flat row is not always enough and is a pain to reach the bussboards as the distance is big. most of my modules are getting hard to catch their volts. some expanders may be needed in some cases.
3. the 2 things above making life hard to add/remove/change modules very often. after of already 2 re-arrangements i really dont want to think about the third. i really prefer working on a mess for ever than to put everything out of the case and get it back in

Serious Eurorack Base

Heavy duty and very well made. Easy to fit racks into place and plenty of power. Like another reviewer has commented, it appears 169hp, but I hardly notice any gap and rather this than 167hp!
Saving for the Doepfer A-100 PMS 12 PSU3.

Great case, only minor issues...
Vladimir Woelfl 25.08.2021
Befaco Knurlies don't really fit in the topmost screw rail.
Some modules can't be installed into the 45º (upper) row, e.g. if they have knobs too far up on the panel, or the knobs are sticking too far out, i.e. they prevent the cover to be replaced onto the case.

Otherwise, as a base case it fits its purpose perfectly. Top row can even handle modules up to 12cm deep.
I modded mine to fit in 4 spring tanks (Belton/Accutronics, the ones from Thonk), as some busboard screw holes are arranged so that these tanks can be easily fixed in two places.

Looks great!

For me this case has a great aesthetic.
Other Doepfer cases sit nicely on top.
However, fitting modules on the top row can be a struggle as you have to push up the top where the rails me the case to be able to screw in the modules. This is particularly noticeable on each corner of the top row.
It is also a crying shame that the bottom row is not deep enough for the A-154.
Despite this, it is solid and very comfortable to use.

Great sturdy, low cost case!
Blueswill 08.03.2015
Bought this as wanted a portable case that was sturdy enough to be able to take on the road and provide good, clean power to a number of modules. Can't really fault this option for the price as gives the usual Deeper build quality.

The 1200ma power supply is probably just right for a case of this size, a common complaint of the 9U version of this case seems to be that the power supply is the same size so you are more likely to run into power problems with that if using some digital modules. It would have been nice for the power outlet to be on the side so as to have the option of using it laid down flat (I understand that this was possible on the older versions) but not really a big deal.

All in all very happy with this case for the money and already thinking about buying a base to sit underneath and hold sequencing modules!

The Classic Eurorack Starter Case
Anonymous 01.05.2015
Robust, with a utilitarian style and a stable power supply. I've taken this case on trains and buses and cars and it doesn't even show a scratch. I definitely feel comfortable taking around with me with any fear of damaging modules. Once you're where you want to be, its dead simple to plug and wiggle (play). The power supply has been rock solid, although I use it with entirely analogue modules and a full digital case may push it to its limits. My only advice would be, if you're thinking of getting into eurorack, think BIG! You'll probably end up wanting more space quite quickly, so look into the bigger cases if your budget allows.
