We put a lot of money in expensive drums, so protecting them is really important. Clamping the pedal straight to the wooden hoop is a problem for all of us. Seeing expensive drums on second hand market in perfect/new condition, but with that pedal rash on the bass drum batter hoop, always makes me cry. I've always tried to put all kinds of DIY stickers on the bass drum hoop. The end result was fine, but ugly and messy. It's really important to protect not only the the top and the bottom part of the hoop, but the edge too. Most new pedals has some rubber protectors on their top and bottom part of the clamping mechanism, but none of them has such thing for the edge of the hoop. Drum N Base protector sticks to all sides, as the picture shown. It's perfect, easy to install, looks good and the rubber sticks to the pedal clamp really well even without tighting the clamp and the pedal stays in it's place. And for all of us who like more open sound bass drums, tighting the clamp to the hoop is unexeptable because it chokes the sound a bit. I'm really happy with the purchase.
Edit: After my initial excitement here is the reality after month of intensive playing. Absolute disaponment! The rubber pad tear exactly on the edge of the hoop. I use the new dw 9000 pedal, which has rubber pads on the top and on the bottom of the clamp for the hoop, but the part where the edge of the hoop touches is all metal, coated with the regular black paint as every new pedal. This exact paint is a bit rough and acts as a sanding paper to the soft rubber.
