I had the previous product this was based on, the Finhol Laser kick pro. I'm guessing that thomann bought up that company and re-released the products under their own brand. After 5 years of hard use it was on its way out, so replaced it with this. Virtually the same, a couple of aesthetic differences but nothing extreme. Only thing that marked it down for me is it doesn't come with a PSU. Just a battery clip adaptor. I've used a generic variable PSU and it works fine though. It's a great improvement over the mic/piezo in a box type stomps as your foot is flat to the floor, therefore no fatigue in your ankle after a couple of hours gig. There's a good, albeit small array of samples - I use the cajon bass hit as the most natural sounding thing to go with an acoustic guitar. The only drawback as far as the sound goes is that the velocity is not variable so you can't follow dynamics of a song with it. I'll take that for the fact that my ankle, knee and hip isn't aching at the end of a gig!
