BI
Supple feel and lots of harmonics
Benjamin I. 23.05.2016
Drop them on a table, Ultex picks sound more rigid than other materials, almost like glass. Used to like Tortex but Tortex sounds a bit rubbery compared to Ultex. 0.60mm gauge puts out the most harmonics, 0.73 a bit less but still plenty, thicker ones don't pull enough harmonics for my taste, and they feel like they bump against the string whereas 0.60's and 0.73's slide on the string with a more supple feeling.

Used 6-string "standard player" picks on my bass at the beginning but the large rounded triangle shape gives a broader grip for hitting the stronger strings on a bass. Very durable for retaining their shape, the tip seems to never wear out, but elasticity is not retained as long, so the sound loses a bit of edge after a long use. Change them when they no longer feel as flexible as new, and you're okay.

NA
My favourite Plectrums
Nige A. 09.06.2014
Favourite plectrums are down to personal taste so although I like the
shape,
material [translucent smooth but grippy],
size [33mm per side of the triangle]
& the picture of the rhino, you may not.

These series of plectrums are all the same size and vary only in thickness.
the .60 is the thinest I have and good for floppy electric.
the .70 is a bit like the corner of a credit card,
the .88 is a bit less flexible and
the 1.14 is quite stiff - I use it for accoustic 6 string.

I like the basic utilitarian style of these plectrums. They look like they are made from some kind of translucent vintage mil-spec material.
They have one job to do and they are gonna do it well.
