Best strap locks
Gabriel C 10.07.2020
I use these strap locks (in different colours) on all my basses & guitars and they've never failed me.

Pros:
I like the fact that they are easy to use: one simple klick on the button and the strap releases very fast and easy, in contrary to strap locks made by other manufacturers. I also like that they don't cause or transmit any noises to the instrument (in contrary to other products I've tried).

Cons:
I wish Dunlop would include a special tool for snapping/pushing the retainer clip into the shank groove, because that's difficult to install (at least when you've never installed this strap lock before).

I bought these strap locks as I like that they are designed to that you can use them with a different strap if you forget yours, which is always a hassle with strap locks. The screw that comes with these Dunlops was both thicker and wider than the originals for my Ibanez RG and as I didn't have the proper tools to drill a bigger hole, I chose to let a professional install them. However, fitting the part that is attached to the strap was a breeze on my leather strap.
Another thing to note is that the strap will stick out 1-2cm more from the body due to its design, this is not something I worry about with my guitar but take this into account when considering this product.

Overall very happy with the quality of these Dunlops and I've gigged with them for several months now without any complaints and I'm sure they'll last me a good while.

Never use anything else

Got these to replace my old strap buttons on my Les Paul Custom and as always these things are perfect. You can throw the guitar about no worries at all with them attached. My only slight issue I have ever had isn't really related to the product themselves, but my bottom straplock had a bigger screw in it so the one supplied here didn't fit properly. You'd think getting a small head screw in a bigger size but with a small enough head to fit in the new lock would be easy. It wasn't.

No matter really, just put some wood in the slot and re-drilled.

Anyways, excellent bit of kit.

Does the job well
Martin739 02.08.2013
I've used a range of different straplocks - Schaller, Warwick and others - and I think these Dunlop duals are the best. With the straplock mechanism they work well, keeping the strap secure. But if you have to use them with a strap that doesn't have the lock fitted, they still work well because of the shape of the button. I don't know of any other straplock system that copes so well with that back-up-strap situation.

Great straplok, but disappointed with the gold colour!
Diatonico 26.08.2022
I've used Dunlop Straploks for years and they are definitely worth the investment. 37,- EUR to make sure your expensive guitar never accidently falls because the strap lets loose? Now THAT's insurance worth buying.

They're pretty easy to install ... except for that goddamned 3/4 ring thingy you have to force in between the lock and your strap. They're a nuisance to install because of the tension involved and the small size of the open ring.

Otherwise they work great — a little oil now and then, I've never had one fail on me. They're great to quickly switch straps between guitars, or to take a strap off if you have to put the guitar in a tight case or gig bag (my Les Paul can't fit inside my Mono gig bag without taking the strap off).

Plus, contrary to Schallers, these still let you put a strap without loks over them in a pinch.

That said, this 'gold' straplok disappointed me. I was looking for a gold version to match the gold hardware on a new PRS I have. However in real life the gold is VERY dull — Thomann's pictures are not accurate unfortunately. For this reason I'm returning them and going with Schallers. Yes, I care about looks. It's why I ordered the gold ones.

The Best guitar strap locks... my guitars are never without one!
chartstone3 11.12.2018
In my opinion these are the most secure locks on the market. I ve been using them for more than 10 years without issues whatsoever and with peace of mind every time.

The only "con" (if it is) is that one might have to drill on the guitar body to insert the screw, otherwise after that it's all good.

Truly recommended!

For the third time a fail
Stevo1959 22.01.2019
I have this type of locks on two other guitars and I've never had any problems, so naturally, I bought and installed Dunlops on my third guitar. On the second rehearsal with these brand new locks on, suddenly one of the locks failed and my guitar fell down. Since then, I'm sceptic... And yes, I've double checked the locks before hanging on the guitar. The lock is based on 4 little bearing balls that fit into a circular groove and lock there while being pushed by a spring and a locking pin out of their holes. Something went wrong there...
