Rhythm guitar's go-to
snakeyay 15.06.2020
To preface this, I've just ordered some 20 packs of different picks in order the find the "one" that fits me and my playing style (I play an ESP LTD EC-1000 in Standard tuning 10-48, so I cannot vouch that the review would be valid for a Baritone or 7-string guitar).

I test all picks with the following parameters:
1. A fast/heavy metal song
2. Strumming songs
3. Practice pick, ala scales up and down
4. Slow song that requires exact attacks on phrases and is not "shreddy"

On all of those points, this pick does it ALL (except #2 and #4). My personal recommendation would still be a Nylon pick for Strumming songs (campfire singalongs if you will), but for any fast song that requires you to aggressively pick and do fast acrobatics with your picking hand, this is the pick for you.

You cannot order this pick and then NOT play some of the awesome Metallica classics like Creeping Death, Master of Puppets and alike - and this pick suits the ludicrous amount of down-picking like no other. One thing that MUST be mentioned is that this pick was obviously built with HEAVY attack in mind. This is not a pick if you are trying to do minimal movements and slow "plucky stuff", it is there for aggressive and fast attacks on the strings.

To continue with the parameters of the pick - I tried Strumming and solo/typical scale up'n'down practice, but my personal preference is a Nylon pick for Strumming and Jazz III's for the "scaley" and "soloey" stuff.

However, if you are in a situation where you need a pick for awesome thrash or death metal playing and all the picking hand wizardry that requires that, this would be the best for that specific need.

A couple of negative points:
- The print wears out quickly, however, the pick is still usable even after becoming rounded
- There is no 24-piece option offered =(

P
fast and cheap
PalmMute 17.06.2018
Great for playing fast riffs, these picks don't bend under pressure, the material allows you to grip it nicely, and they glide on the strings for fast riffs. I've been playing with this pick for about 10 hours and there isn't any wear on the pick itself, only the web desing has started to scratch off. for the price these things are a steal!

F
Cool looking Picks that serve a purpose
FunkyChuck28 18.11.2023
The picks themselves are good, although they could be a bit more grippier. They are matte finnish but tend to smooth out if used longer and I found to drop them more frequently if I use them for a long time and my hands get sweaty.
They are 1.14 mm thick which falls right in the category that can be used for guitar and bass (which I rarely play with a pick but if needed I know I have the tool for the job).
If those are too thick for your taste I think they come at .80mm as well.

They are what they are, picks, they doo the job, they do it well and look cool while doing it. Like I said-the could be a bit grippier but that is a minor thing.
This is my second order of those picks, first one being the ones that come in a tin box. I ended oup loosing some (like I always do) giving some away, and ended up with only two left (out of six that you get in the package)

Must-Have for Metallica Fans
alexdg 12.05.2014
At first I have to say that I am a very bog fan of Metallica and James Hetfields legendary sound. Since I have no money for an equipment like James has, I had to look for a little smaller and cheaper thing to get the Metallica feeling. The Ultex are generally very very good and are in my opinion the best for fast metal. The lie very good in the hand and the grip is also fantastic. The logo of Metallica and the green picture give the picks the last kick.

Chugging picks
Canziani 05.10.2019
I have been using these picks for some time now. I basically use them for every type of music I play on my guitar, however, needless to say they are perfect and really fun for James-wanna-be chugging and galloping. Some players would use thicker picks for that, but 1,14 is pretty good for me. Stays pretty well between the fingers and remain really sharp for long time. The only issue I am having is that the slight fade of paint after more time of playing. However, I have just bought a new pack of them - it summarizes my opinion and review of the product.

Have been using this picks for about 3 years, got to tell... these babies don't wear off, probably the best picks I've ever used (along side the Jazz III), they have a good grip, strong attack for both solos and rhythm and don't break for anything in this world. The Hetfield Blackfang's are picks that make you feel like you're hitting you guitar with Mjolnir! Not to say they are great for fast downpicking.

Incredible guitar picks for metal
Marian5 12.01.2020
Those were the first picks I ever used and I've used them since I started playing. At first they seem a bit stiff compared to other picks because of the material and the thickness of the pick but it's all worth it because of the aggresive tone you achieve using them.
Pros:
-great tone and attack
-amazing print
-durable
Cons:
-print comes off quicly

I
I don't find them too great.
IanofIreland 16.08.2023
I find these quite overrated. They aren't very durable, seem brittle. They wear away fast. The only positive is they are decent grip.

They aren't an upgrade on a Tortex or Jazz III. The White Fang is a far superior model to these, as are Tortex and Jazz III.
