Great hi hat
Vihren Hristov 03.08.2021
Beatiful peace of hardware. Light enough, but ther's a lack of stability just a bit, as you can imagine. I can't find any difference between the operation of the 6000 compared to the 9000 hi hat. The only difference is the tension - probably dw use more compresed coil in the 9000, than in the 6000, which makes the 6000 way lighter in feel. Actually the lightes setting on the 9000 hi hat is as tight as the tightest of the 6000. I play with the hats a lot, so I keep circa 1-1.5" distance between both cymbals, therefore I always set my hi hat's at their most light setting - fo example Pearl Eliminator hi hat's most light setting is way tight for me. So for those who use tighter setting on the 9000 machine, 6000 will feel to light and probably unusable. Keep in mind that my top cymbal weighs around 900 grams, which is less than most top cymbals. And even that I tight the 6000 to it's max, and the distance between both cymbals is significant, as I saight around 1.5". And for those who like that retro base look, 6000 hi hat is the one to go. Not for double pedal players.
Edit: Since I got the box with missing 15" rod (dw offers the hi hat with two rods - 15 and 21") a month ago, I still wait for the dw customer service to resolve the issue. I'll update in case of possitive resolution.
15.9.21I got the missing part today. Unfortunately it's not what it has to be - I got 20" instead of 15'', but the big problem is that it's not dw - the thread is M6 x 1mm (Yamaha standart), instead of the regular M7 x 1mm standart dw thread. I'll cut the rod and do the right thread myself.
So in case of missing part I recomend to send the whole package back and wait for a new one.

Fantastic stand

This has been the best quality and visually the best stand I have used. It is great for when being used with smaller stages and the low profile allows you to get it in tighter than that of other stands. Its incredibly durable and provides a very quick response.

I would highly recommend this as your main stand, or at least your next go to stand.

An excellent, light, and well built Hi-Hat stand with a retro look.
Anonymous 04.10.2016
I have used the DW Series 9000 Hi-Hat stand plus other same series cymbal & snare stands which are very good but are heavy when transporting from gig to gig. If your looking to be able to transport all your stands in one easy light load then the DW 6500 series are the perfect alternatives. The Hi-Hat stand is simple to adjust and I find it lighter and easier to play. I also use the 6000 UL Hi-Hat stand which is again fractionally lighter. Both excellent stands and highly recommend them.

Great piece of kit!!
Jacko1986 04.06.2013
I brought this stand as an alternative to the DW 9000 version as i needed to lighten my gear. As far as smoothness and build quality go, there is no difference whatsoever. Great looking retro stand with all the quality you'd expect from a DW product.

The only slight difference is it is not quite as stable as its bigger bulkier brother, but unless you really lay into it, you wont notice one bit. One other thing to bear in mind is that as it has a flush base, if you are using the similar flush based cymbal stands with it, the legs can get in the way of each other causing some positioning difficulties.

Overall, i would give this product a 9/10, i cant ever seeing me need to purchase another hi hat stand again!!

DW 65000 Hi-hat stand

Excellent and smooth hi-hat stand.Looks good and is robust and well made. Only slight issue I had is sometimes the clutch drops, I think it's a bit harder to tighten fully than my pearl one.

Nice stand

Very good, smooth, sturdy, solid and best of all- light! The flush legs means a big footprint but I haven't found this a problem. Still get a kick out of using this as the quality is very satisfying!
