DW Piccolo Tom 08"x2,5"

I decided to add this tom at Christmas to my ever increasing hybrid kit. I'm so glad I did.
I 'play for fun' so this wasn't ever going to be used as a gigging instrument.
Despite great attempts by the postal service to damage my order in transit, it arrived safely in time for Christmas. I was surprised by the weight of such a small item - extremely sturdy. It was very easy to put together - a couple of screws and a minute's work left it ready to be attached to the rack.
As soon as I struck it for the first time I knew it was good decision. A very sharp tone fitting in perfectly (tonally) between my other standard 8" toms and a pair of bongos (used as toms). I now have an 8 'tom' range on my kit.
I have spent a bit of time on the kit since and the tom has been through a few sessions. The head seems very durable and has reacted very well to any punishment dealt out by me so far.
It's my first DW item but the quality and finish on this one would certainly cause me to look closer at other DW accessories and drums - a very solid, great looking and reactive piece of kit with a great sound thrown in.

This drum is just amazing. For such a small instrument, it packs a punch. It can cut through other instruments with ease. It can be applied into lots of different styles of music, works as a great timbale for Ska/Reggae or you can use it as an effect drum similar to an octoban. It fits in well with rock music aswell; the drummer for the band Karnivool uses a roto tom which this DW piccolo tom has similarties to in terms of sound. Great quality from DW as always.

The head is also very durable and sounds amazing. I have been beating the life out of it and it is holding up just fine. The rebound you get off this drum is amazing too.

This drum has become a part of my kit and will be for the future! pick one up if you fancy something different to jam with!
