Budget Carbon Copy with quality
Anonymous 28.03.2015
I consider this pedal a budget Carbon Copy. This is definitely not a bad thing though - I've always thought the MXR was a bit overpriced. It has a pretty much identical feature set - blend, delay time and feedback, as well as switchable modulation. Straight out of the box the modulation is a bit goofy - you'll need to open up the pedal and adjust the internal trimpot for depth. It's a shame there isn't a trimpot for rate either, but if you NEED more control over the modulation the Memory Boy, also by EHX, would suit you better. It's a bit annoying that you have to remove the back of the pedal to adjust the modulation but it only takes a few minutes. The delay time offered is very short, but I wouldn't say it was a draw back. With this kind of analogue delay you're probably wanting to thicken up your sound a bit, which doesn't require more than a few hundred milliseconds. It's easy to get this pedal to self oscillate if noise-making is your thing though, in my opinion, self-oscillation starts too early on the feedback dial. There was no massive flaw with this pedal, but ultimately it didn't suit my amp, which is already a bit dark - the delay just sounded like mud.

Best analog delay pedal I've owned
David9591 07.06.2017
Memory Man / Boy / Toy pedals are well known. This, the smallest version, has a few less features than it's bigger brothers but it fits perfectly in a smaller pedal board and sounds absolutely amazing.

As with all analog delays, you need to fiddle with it to get the delay sound you want and it won't produce that perfect shiny delay that digital models do, but that's the point. The addition of the modulation switch on this is a nice feature and adds in a chorus type sound.

If you are looking for a solidly built, really great sounding and affordable true analog delay, look no further. I've had mine for a while now and I love it. Highly recommended!

It's EHX but what about the volume?
Fredric 18.06.2014
Well, it sounds good, it's small and it looks good on the pedal board. It doesn't take up a lot of space and it's Electro Harmonix. But the memory toy have one big flaw; the volume is louder with the pedal engaged than when off. Makes it pretty useless in my opinion, unless you will keep it on all night. I can't recommend this.

Just my go to delay
Anonymous 29.01.2017
Its simple, does one thing, but it does that very very well imo

I like the sound of this delay more than any other i have tried, so much so i have just bought a 2nd one for a back up /2nd board

i also have a TRex Play back delay, which is a very very good delay, that has more options to shape the delay itself, and is just a great delay, but it does not have the character this has, something about this pedal i love, and have sound i prefer to the larger Memory Man pedals. The modulation on the pedal is perfect, just the right balance

as with all ehx modern pedals, sturdy well built. If you like dirty delays, this is the one , doubly so if you are on a budget

I have marked it down on features because its limited, a one tricky pony, buts its very very good at that one trick

Perfect Analog Delay
Anonymous 31.05.2016
The Electro - Harmonix Memory Toy is great if you're looking for analog delay. Yes analog is a bit more tricky to adjust and find the right mode, than a digital delay, but it's worth it if you're looking for a vintage vibe.

The price is reasonable for the pedal, and the size is smaller than other Electro - Harmonix pedals, so it'll work for a crowded pedal board.

This pedal it's perfect if you are looking for an spacey sound and it will lead your guitar solos to another dimension.

I keep it on all the time and it works great when combined with other pedal effects.

Experiment and you will develop a unique live sound which will blown people's minds away.

You can also control the Delay time and the range by turning the clockwise.

don't understand the hype about it
Bubr77 20.01.2019
I've had this thing for almost three years, and never ben able to get the sound even close to the way I wanted. tried tweaking it all possible ways and the sound always was unsatisfactory. never heard the difference between mod: off/on... maybe i am just not the delay guy...certainly not with this analog thing. now trying to find the way to sell it back..

A great sound in a small case!
Anonymous 10.04.2015
Great delay pedal that does the job! I miss tap tempo but except for that it sounds incredible. The mod is nice for experimental stuff and you can get really loud repetative sounds or very great background layers to just fatten your sound a little bit. All in all itäs a versitle pedal for a great price!

Memory Toy
Anonymous 09.02.2015
I got the Electro Harmonic Memory Toy a year ago. I had the Boss Delay before, this is simpler, more fun and it sounds better. Its cheaper as well, easily my favorite delay pedal. It has a standard delay sound, slapback delay, and the chorus modulation space sound. Its also great to just fool around with, changing the paste of the delay creates a space future sound. I have a lot of pedals now, but I think I use this the most. Great for Blues, Rock, Funk, Psychadelic music. Pretty cool and pretty cheap. The best pedal on the market for those that don't want to have a massive pedal and not empty your wallet.

Good analog delay
Aron96 12.02.2021
Does what it says on the tin, its a great analog delay with a very naturally warm decay. Works great for a lead delay or as an always on delay to fatten up your guitar sound to get that 80s thicknes.
Worth a mention is the fact that there is a slight colume drop whan used it the fx loop, wich can me mitigated if not completeley resolved with a boost.
All in all a pretty good delay for the money.

A cheap analog sounding delay of high quality
Anonymous 27.06.2014
This delay is the baby in the Electro-Harmonix line of "Memory" delays. It performs well as a standard analog sounding delay. It even updates in real-time when you turn the knobs, opening up a lot of possibilities for live adjustments to create fun sounds! However, I'm not very fond of the modulation effect because I think it is to distinct. It can be changed from within the pedal by turning a small trim pot (essentially making this pedal even more bang for the buck!) but unfortunately it didn't fit my taste for modulation.
The quality of constructions seems very high.
