I bought this unit to get a particular sound that I get from a Johnson J-station Amp modeller. The model was of a black face fender amp with a compressor. What I was after was a clean sound that is just about breaking up with a slight squash to it. The Electro Harmonix Soul Preacher gives a good 'compressor with attitude' sound. Set to the fast attack and with a small amount of squash it came quite close to the sound I was after. The only negative points of the Soul Preacher are the lack of a more varied attack setting and release time and quite a bit of noise when the pedal is on. The pedal is solidly built and should prove to be reliable in a gigging situation.

Simple to use with warm sound. Small and strong construction.
Really good sound for '70s and '80s
