Sooooo many ways to increase and decrease volume
Anonymous 20.09.2016
I went through many online videos to decide which tremolo pedal to go for and I am very satisfied with the purchase.

For what is essentially raising and lowering the volume, this unit can do it in an infinite number of ways. Running in mono into a guitar amp this unit can produce very smooth slow and fast tremolo effects, beautiful 50s / 60s jazz sounds.

Alternatively it can produce very harsh square wave oscillation effect sounds which would not sound out of place in a dance beat tune.

Then when you plug the stereo output, you get a really gorgeous rich stereo tremolo effect, where the panning can sound as smooth as butter.

There are probably many cheaper (and in many cases much more expensive) pedals for tremolo, but I think this is really good value for money. Sadly bigger than a 'standard' pedal (whatever a standard pedal is, but you get the idea), so fills up the pedal board quicker, but for the sound it provides, it 'pays for its space' on the pedal board very well.

Highly recommended

J
Pulsar
Juergen3465 13.02.2014
I bought the XO Pulsar a few years ago and although I liked the features, sound and built quality of the pedal, I changed it a while ago to another tremolo.

The features and the sound of this pedal are well worth the money and I enjoyed playing the pedal every time i used it. But I found the Speed knob to be too sensitve for me. The usable range for me was between 9 and 10 o'clock, but even then a small change in range caused a massive speed difference.

I sold the pedal to a friend who is more into extreme kind of tremolos and he likes the pedal and plays it frequently.

The quality of the pedal is EHX standard and feels solid and reliable. I did not have any doubts to gig with it without a backup.

M
Very customisable
MihaG 05.03.2014
I've been using it for approximately 2 years now.
Sadly, I haven't had the opportunity to use it's stereo option on two different speakers, but using its mono output, I'm very satisfied.

The rate goes all the way from barely moving (I'd say 0.2 Hz) to rapid pulsing, which rather than tremolo sounds unusual, especially with the depth on maximum and square shape, that way it sounds "farty", and it sounds as if two frequencies are played at once. Nice for experimenting.

The depth is a confusing feature once you go past maximum, which is somewhere just over half of a turn of the knob. The only thing I wish here is that the knob would "slip" into the position for full depth, because it's sensitive and sometimes it's hard to set it to full depth and not go over. This is particularily hard if you want to change setting during a song or when using a low rate, but if you aren't in such a situation, it will again offer lots of experimental sounds you can not obtain with regular tremolos.

Get your pulse racing

The price of this pedal would suggest it's of a reasonable quality, but it's not, it's much better! In fact it's just brilliant. I have used a fair few tremolo pedals over the years, some very pricey, and this is just as good. Great price, Electro Harmonix do it again!

As good as it gets
Anonymous 05.03.2015
As long as this guy don't break, i'm not gonna need to buy a new tremolo again. Does everything you need and a BIT more!

Really well built, nice looks, easy to use and understand. Just plug'n'play til you find the sound you want.

I think this is one of the most successful tremolo pedals ever made. It is a solid box, which has a lot of parameters to switch and a top sound quality, with a very low price! I recomend it!

A great pedal for a good price.

Electro-Harmonix is a pedal-making company that doesn't disappoint. And the Stereo Pulsar follows the same quality control, with the same great timbres that make the company one of the most respected ones in the market. First of all, this thing is sturdy. It's case is made of steel and it could get definitely handle being taken up on the road without any problems.

The square/triangle switch gives you a whole plethora of sounds. From a 60's surf music style of tremolo to a more synthetic sound which could easily be used on a NIN album, this pedal has it!

My verdict is, within its price range, you couldn't do better than the EHX Stereo Pulsar.

JN
Fantastic tremelo for a single or dual amp setup.
JR N 25.04.2024
To start with, I absolutely love this pedal. I'll take a solid trem over chorus, flange or phase any day. With this being the stereo version of the Pulsar, it allows you to fade between two amps leading to an assortment of possibilities, it's this that I actually use it for mostly. But if you don't have or need a dual amp setup in your rig, the Stereo Pulsar runs perfectly fine in mono through a single amplifier. It's a staple on my board and very often an always on pedal depending on what I'm playing.

Amazing Tremolo
Zool. 21.10.2014
This is by far the most amazing and versatile tremolo-effect I ever had. The only 'con' is that with so many features it is a pity that you cannot save or store sounds, as you can with so many othjer EHX pedals. But there is also the Super Pulsar, but for twice the price.
