I've bought couple of Elixirs of various light gauge as spare strings and for some experimenting with custom set. I was curious about it and Ernie Ball singles are available only as sets of six (which would take years for me to spent).
Anti-rust plain steel Elixirs are packed quite crude in paper sleeve and in my opinion are nothing exceptional. Their price is higher than d'Addario's singles, but this difference doesn't matter. For the durability I have to wait, I don't play guitar intensively.

My father wanted to make his own set for his guitar because he has a bit sensitive skin (has bunch of skin problems, not to mention developing arthritis).
He liked flatwound strings because they aren't hard on the fingers but he wanted to try something new and missed the sound of the roundwounds.
He was impressed with the quality (they were removed and put back on on the guitar, I think, 3 times) and loved the coated feel they had. He claims they are not hard on his fingers.
They are still on after almost a year of use. I'd say he plays around 5-10 hours per week. Not bad I say!

I buy these every couple of months to keep as replacement, as good as it can be and super long-lasting.

Nothing bad to say

They are single versions of the pack I buy, and they do a great job of filling up the sets with missing strings that I have. Will definitely be buying again.

Inexpensive solution

I am always breaking e strings and buying a whole new pack of strings to replace the one broken string. I had accumulated about 5-6 packs of new strings, each missing just the high e. Now, for the low price of just about 1? per string, I have 5-6 new entire packs! I also bought a half-dozen extras for the next time I break one.

The name says it all

I'm a fan of Elixir strings, have been using them for long time already, and just discovered that Thomman sells them separately. What I love about these strings is the nano-shield they had, make the tune last longer, and definitely protects them against rusting. This is the string I usually break after several months of use, so it's a great deal to buy separately.

Very good plain steel
wgen 13.11.2016
As much as I'm loving other Elixir strings, I'm loving this nice plain .010 string, too! It has that superb anti-rust coating which lets these strings last for a long time without significant changes in tone. I find these strings reliable and convenient because it's especially important for a plain string not to corrode too much, eventually breaking when you really don't want that to happen. Very nice indeed!
