Strings that last and last
Karnage 15.07.2018
These strings do cost significantly more than many other options, but only in the short term. The consistency of tone over not just months but years is seriously impressive. I have to buy the extra top C for my 6 string bass making it quite an investment, but I?d be paying so much more in an attempt to keep the tone up to scratch with any other make. I usually get a few years out of a set of these.
It could be that the sound of very new strings is not what you are after (not sure how you keep tone consistency in that case, not somewhere I?ve aimed for) you might get frustrated with how well these keep their sound.
It is also possible you play constantly with a pick, and this could wear the coating quicker in that area of the string, but you?d still get way more string life. I only use a pick on a few songs for effect, vast majority is finger playing.
Summary: If you want a lasting clear tone, these are the strings to get.

Made me fall in love with my bass
Mariano O. 02.09.2019
Last February I purchased a Harley Benton PJ-75 OW Vintage Series. I was really not connecting with the instrument but then I decided to try changing the strings. These strings made me completely fall in love with the bass. They feel much tighter in a good way. The b string rings much clearer. And the sound is just the right amount of bright. I hope they last as long as everyone says they do. Great investment in my honest opinion.

Simply Amazing Strings
Haik5 27.12.2021
i recently discovered this brand and i am now completely in love with it. I used to have Flatwounds because roundwounds were buzzing too much but overtime i missed the drive - flatwounds are too laid back- what i found with Elixir is that they are very well balanced. they sound deep and clean at the same time and very nice highs ! really recommend to try and see for yourself!

Has not let me down yet

I love using elixirs for every stringed instrument I have! I love the feel and sound. Amazing for the gigging musician if you do not like to change your strings every week.

I never use anything else
magnusE 02.09.2019
Have been using Elixir bass strings exclusively since 2001, due to the longevity of their sound. Especially good if, like me, you have somewhat sweaty palms. I used to "kill" a set of bass strings in one night's gig before switching over to Elixir - but have had no problems since; I now change strings when they're old and I fear they will break - they still sound great at that point though.

Great strings.
Anonymous 03.10.2016
I'll be honest I'm not a fan of coated strings, they feel.. different. But they do sound good and do that for a longer time then regular strings. So I can't complain much.

That being said, if you don't want to change your strings too often these are for you. I don't like getting into the "boiling your strings" situation, I'd rather get new strings. If these last me a solid 3-4 months with gig-ing twice a week I'm happy. I can just buy a new pair after the old one starts loosing it's edge.

No Contest

These strings are on another level. Soundwise they have a measured, and round/warm brightness, but their secrret weapon is they they keep their brilliance for a long time, even in the tropics where I live, with the high humidity, and extra propensity to sweat, the coating keeps them alive for months longer than you would expect from other strings.

Once you play elixirs, you never go back
Marko96 08.10.2023
What to say? Maybe not the cheapest or best sounding string, at least in my opinion, but by far the longest lasting. I play 7-8 wedding gigs in two months and it still sounds new. The price may be steep, but when you factor in how long they last, they are practially the cheapest string!

SS
I am disappointed
Sawelew Sergey 01.03.2020
The strings arrived in an open package and envelopes with strings protruded from it. The packaging was very shabby. When installing the strings, I noticed falling off pieces of the protective layer in the upper part of the strings. It initially seemed to me doubtful. The sound is "plastic", at first it was as if they had been played for more than one week. The string "C" does not sound at all. Absolutely did not expect this from a fairly well-known brand. I bought a bass guitar and the previous owner advised me to replace the strings. His old strings sounded better than these new ones. I am disappointed.
