Screws and wiring plug placement are not optimal
jboman 26.09.2021
Don't install using the included screws. They are made of a very soft metal and they strip easily. The wiring plug placements is also not optimal. This is a very tall pickup and wiring plug at the bottom makes the total height over 2cm. Depending on the body, some routing may be required. Definelty not a drop-in replacement for all basses. Not an issue if you are building a body from scratch.

This EMG pickup is a powerhouse
Iakovos K 18.05.2020
I wanted a music man pickup but most had more trebly or midy sound, this one is really warm and bassy, and has very loud output, It can be used for any genre as it is very versatile! I play indie and I couldn't choose a better pickup for the Arctic Monkeys sound I go for!
Also, I recommend, using the BQS system preamp for EMG, as you have total control of the tone, from total bass you can go to thrash tone in one turn!

Great pickup
Jezzaboy 17.05.2022
Was looking for a replacement pickup and pre amp for a Sterling Sub bass. The prices of these items was quite eye watering for a budget instrument but then I came across this set up.

Easy to fit with solderless connections and clear instructions. The only bit of soldering I did was to link the original battery box to the new EMG loom. You don`t need to do this as a battery connection comes with the pack but I wanted to keep the original set up.

The sound has plenty of punch and the tone control works like a passive control with an extra kick. If you need a bass and treble boost then look elsewhere but expect to pay a lot more. This EMG set up is so much better than the original components and for under £100, its a winner for me.

Good pickup but missing something
Jonathan4402 06.09.2015
I bought this pickup for a cheap bass upgraded and its a great sounding pickup thats easy to install with the emg quick connect wiring. However I found the tone more akin to a P-Bass not the mm style that the name alludes to.
Great bit of kit but if you're after the true mm sound I'd recommend a passive unit

EMGs are my choice everytime
Steven8093 02.12.2013
EMG pickups are the best I've used. They are interference free and you don't have to bother with the earth wire. The wiring is soldier free which makes installing these pickups hassle free. 7 out of my 11 basses are powered by EMG active pickups.
I'd also like to thank Thomann for getting my pickup to me in just a couple of days, and the package tracking is a handy feature.

MY
Simple installation, great sound
Max Y. 03.11.2022
Using this in a custom fretless, in the classic MM position, wired at 18V. There's just a good tone to it, feels good under the thumb, and the wiring and controls are self-explanatory. Picks up absolutely no noise and all of the sweet mwah. Zero gripes, excellent piece of electronics.
