I recently was in a guitar shop on the outskirts of Boston when the guitar tech decided to demo a guitar through several speakers.
After comparing this ENGL 2x12 against 4x12 cabs from Revv and Diezel, and against a Soldano 2x12, the clear winner for how it sounds in the room was the ENGL, and it wasn't even close.
I've owned several 2x12 cabs over the years, most recently an Orange PPC212 closed back.
I decided to shop for a different cab because my new amp is a 50w Mesa Badlander, and although it sounded great through the Orange, the Orange didn't match the impedance of the amp exactly.
The biggest difference I've noticed between the Orange and Engl is how much louder the Engl gets, it feels like it is at least 2x as loud, but maintains the clarity and thump and lower volumes, which many cabs are challenged with.
The cab is slightly smaller than the Orange, and the weight is very close. It's heavy, but it is manageable.
The one CON I'd have to add is about Engl products I've owned in general: They all seem to have this off-putting smell that is hard to get rid of. It really becomes evident if you are running the rig in a smaller room. I had an Engl Fireball 25 that stunk even worse than this cab though, so at least it isn't nearly as bad. After 4 days, it seems to be getting better.
Lastly, I was apprehensive purchasing something from a dealer overseas, but the process was great with Thomann. I purchased the cab on a Friday morning and had it on Tuesday morning. So if you live in the USA and you are on the fence, I would encourage you to go forward with your purchase (as long as it isn't anything requiring a plug because there may be a difference in voltage).
