Good roundwound strings for Bass VI/Baritone instrument
wgen 08.11.2016
I bought these strings for my 30" scale instrument, and I used these strings because they are the right choice if you have a fixed, NON-TREM bridge, because they are a little shorter than the D'Addario counterparts. D'Addarios are good if you have a guitar with a long trem, instead, because they are some inch longer than these Ernie Balls.
The tone is bright and full at the beginning, and it remains quite good and warm if you wish to keep those for some months. Tension is medium, but if you are willing to tune the .90 string in low E, for that Bass VI tuning, it will be a little floppy in my experience. But any .90 string tuned in low E will be like that in my opinion, so it's not a flaw of these strings I guess.

Great if you're playing baritone as a second guitar
PuijoMies 16.09.2013
Works well with orchestra tuned guitar as a counterpart. The E-tuning is not necessary though, and I recommend this set for other tunings as well. Nice sustain, and no breakups. Ernie Ball all the way!

Ernie Ball EB 2837 Slinky Baritone

These strings are great value for money and it would be nice if Ernie Ball would introduce a set of flatwound Bass VI strings at their sensible prices. A bit of extra string length would be appreciated for those baritone guitars that are fitted with vibrato arms. Having said all of that, these are a no-brainer at the price.

m
damn this brand
m:asd 15.08.2024
I don't know if they're fake or just downright bad, but every time i try "Ernie Ball" strings, they break just after I put them on a guitar. This time I couldn't even tune the 20w from this set, it snapped.
I'll stay away from this brand.
I suggest instead Dunlop or Elixir.

DD
Great strings for the price
Darren D 28.08.2013
These strings would be ideal for a piccolo strung 6 string bass tuned a fourth higher then the standard tuning. I have tried them on a long scale 6 string bass and like the tension in standard tuning but it would probably not be to everybodys taste. Great sounding strings but only until the coating wears which is only a month or two of daily playing , they don't last nearly as long as standard steel strings do.

T
Great Bass VI set.
Tracey 12.09.2014
Just put these on my Bass VI and they are great. Be aware that they aren't super long so if you have an inline headstock and anything over a 30" scale length, the top E string (.20) will likely be too short. Great feel and tone.

For Bass VI?
DaveEff 24.08.2022
It says these aren't compatible with the Bass VI but I just used the bottom E to fill out the standard Bass VI set and fabulous improvement over the floppy E the Bass VI ships with. Good volume balance still. I haven't checked if they all fit.
