Definitely helps and works perfectly. I can kick a table on which mic is mounted and it won't be possible to discern in a recording.
However, considering it's fairly expensive for a piece of metal and rubber, it could be better.
The central piece of the shock mount has very small "screws" to connect it to the holder which in turn mounts onto a mic stand. It works wonders if you don't need to move it. However, I have it attached to mic arm and as I move it around a lot, the screws quickly get very lose and it poses a risk for mic to fall down.
I have no idea why EV didn't think this through, it's such a simple matter to make sure that the screws holding the piece together remain stable as you move the shock mount. Frankly the screw that holds the entire shock mount attached to the stand also has the same issue, although it's less noticeable.
