So first of all a little description of what I use it for.
Im A singer/acoustic guitarist mainly doing covers of folk/pop/rock and more than 25 Years on the stage.
Been through most of the compact systems out there!
My experiences
Bose L1 Compact:
Not enough headroom if the crowd is a bit loud and you need to crank it + needs a mixer in front of it to really sound good and also has no reverb built in !
Bose S1 pro:
Again Not enough headroom and I always had a rattle from the 6.5 woofer when playing drop D
Fender Acoustic Go:
Sounds great for the guitar no headroom issues but never got my vocals the way I wanted to ( always A bit boxy ) + if you like me have a low baritone kinda voice there was just no presence/attack on the low end notes.
HK Era 1:
Same as The Fender but also mine at least had a gain problem on the mic and would tend to clip if I wanted it loud + had a lot of hiss at higher volumes.
So now to the Everse 8:
Simply blown away by the sound projection on this thing !
App is stable and have had no connection issues at all.
Effects are solid ( at least the hall/reverbs ) don't use anything else.
Loads of headroom and completely silent (no Hiss ) even at high volumes.
I use a At 5400 condenser mic / and the fishman blend system and can sit 1 m in front 1.5 m to the side of it at really loud volumes without any feedback.
sound is Crisp, warm and the lows come across powerful and tight on my voice!
Really Can't recommend this thing enough is you are a singer songwriter or solo performer !
Simply stunning.

Weak 3band eq and very edgy sound and fx that can't be optimized
Zinon 08.04.2023
For this review I compared ev 8 with eon one compact. I moistly do live gigs with a fiddle and backtracks so I need to have an almost studio sound to blend my fiddle with my backtracks. So that's where the ev was lucking of choices of eqing different channels. Ch 1/2 has only the typical 3 parametric eq which can't do really much except you already have studio conditions. Unlike ev the jbl with it's 5 band graphic eq on all channels can do rally impressive things and be very pleasant and very close to natural sound. I put ev 3 stars tho because for djs that already play already eq songs ev will do a better job because it reaches higher output without clipping and if u give it a good sound it will do the job.

Conclusion ev is mostly for djs and deffinetely not for musicians that use microphones or transducers which need a lot of optimisation.

The dB difference compared with compact is around 4

Also a very big issue is that the Bluetooth connectivity is very laggy with mediocre devices. As I tested with my phone which cost around 150 and with my 2k laptop the problem was that my phone didn't have a strong cpu while the laptop didn't have problem with the Bluetooth. Unlike that, compact is a workhorse having no issues with bluetooth.

M
Perfekt für Straßenmusik
Mannec 23.12.2023

S
Outstanding.
Simeon. 16.01.2024
I expected these to perform slightly better than the Bose S1 Pro System, but in reality they're totally different ballpark. The Everse 8 has a parametric EQ and could be adjusted to sound fantastic. On my birthday party they performed incredibly well for at least 8 hours and at some point they were pushed above 80% volume level. The battery level was about 70% by the end of the night. Apart from the S1 Pro system, I own a pair of SOUNDBOKS 3 but these are hands down my favourites of the bunch. Featherlight for the performance, they are very easy to throw around and feel solidly built. These will be my main go-to battery PA speakers at least until QSC finally come out with their own set. For everyone wondering if they're worth the premium (against Bose, JBL and a myriad of other cheaper options) I can simply say that I regret sometimes spending that much money on portable PA speakers while not giving a chance to the Everse 8. Yes, they're totally worth every single penny and if I ever sell my other portable PAs, I will definitely get a second pair of these babies. I haven't tested them in the rain yet so I can't confirm if the so called "weatherization" (there's no such word) is true.

J
It’s quite small
Jazzwonderboy 08.06.2024
I bought this for piano sounds as an upgrade from a keyboard amp. The quality of the sound is indisputably much better and clearer. It is also very light and thus handy for small gigs. The battery and Bluetooth connectivity have been surprisingly useful for a quick wireless setup and playing background music before starting. It means I can get the venue to turn off their (usually awful) muzak.

However… at only 8 inches it struggles with bass so my organ and even my piano sound thin when compared with an EV 12 inch speaker. In smaller venues people have complimented the sound but in larger venues they say they can’t hear it. The Thomann adviser described it as fine for 50 people, I would disagree, I think it’s a monitor or an amp for a very small gig. It’s also £200 more than an EV 12 inch.

Overall since buying the 12 inch speaker I am leaving this at home and I am afraid I think it is a bit overpriced for a small speaker. I wouldn’t buy it again but I’m keeping it because it is convenient as a high quality small monitor and background music machine.

This is what I call all in one))
Nelkinas 24.05.2024
The future is here said Marty to Dr. Brown)) Well I guess it is.. So, I bought one of EV Everse 8 just for my home rehearsal. But I never new it became so useful. I use it in many scenarios and It's solve many moments during weddings GIGs as stage monitor or background music during coctail hour or even make some outdoor activities if you need so.
The quality is awsome. Dynacord effects, long battery life, water proof sistem, portability, durability, phanthom power and offcourse great sound quality from EV that is what you'll never expect from such a small pice if gear. Also this little baby produces good lows although the 8' speaker.
There's only one disappointment - price. Taking into account all speaker advantages it's just can't be less. In the end of the day you get what you pay for.
