Wow, what a monster!

First of all: This speaker is HEAVY. If you want to avoid heavy lifting don't even consider it for a 4x12!!! I can't remember ever handling a heavier 12 inch speaker than this. Not even close.

The sound is HUGE! Compared to classic Celestion models this goes deeper, higher, wider, LOUDER. It's ultra clean and wide range compared to the typical Marshall/Celestion sound. It's more in the direction of a Hiwatt/Fane kinda vibe. Clean, hifi and HUGE!

Perhaps not for everyone but definitely a top quality speaker. Great for metal with powerful tube amps. Back in the days it used to be a favorite for bass too. Bass speaker technology has developed a lot since the introduction of the EVM12L so I don't think anyone will consider it a bass speaker today. But it still actually sounds very nice for bass in the right cab and will hold up nicely if common sense is used.

A bit expensive but the quality of construction really is in a different league than most guitar speakers. Whether the sound is right will of course depend on what you're looking for. It's very far from a classic Celestion or Jensen style sound, that's for sure!

It's a classic speaker for a reason!

As noted by others, the EVM 12L offers outstanding definition and clarity. It is a superb speaker for when you after exactly those types of qualities. Solid build although it may be important to note that it offers more mounting holes (8 in total) than most other contemporary speakers (due to its considerable weight!) so you may need to adjust your cab's baffle for it. If your cab isn't going to have a rough life on the road, it'll be just fine to mount the speaker using just the standard 4 holes. This is the way I've had mine mounted for studio use for months and it's been spot on, performing reliably well.

The Boss.

I have used all sorts of guitar speakers. Most of them have their merits and do the job, but nothing is quite like the EV EVM 12. It can handle just about anything you can throw at it. Incredibly tough and durable. I also think these speakers seem to have lower lows and higher highs, a fuller range. Whether this is correct or not I am not sure, but that is how I experience them. Totally reliable.

Amazing sound

I bought a pair of this speakers to replace a pair of TR12-65B speakers installed in my Two-Rock 2x12 cabinet. I am very happy to see a huge improvement in sound with big headroom. It gives my Two-Rock Classic Reverb Signature 100 W not only the best clean sound but arena-rock rhythm tones and soaring leads from OD/Distortion.
