Great, the best head I've tried yet
GretschSilverSparkle 09.01.2021
A really nice balance of responsiveness, sensitivity and warmth, without too many overtones and ringing, so that you can often get away without any dampening. I think it suits any genre of music, but obviously it is a little less responsive for jazz, (although I do play jazz with it.) I wanted to try this out as I prefer not to dampen the heads and in this regard I'm happy with how it sounds when recorded. It's also easy to tune and get the best out of the snare. So far it appears very durable, after three months of regular playing it is only showing minimal signs of use. Highly recommend and I would buy again.

A
Excellent snare batter head
Adrian866 06.04.2018
Using this on a DW Design Black Nickel Over Brass 14 x 6.5" snare.
I really like Evans quality - coating seems to last forever (unlike some other manufacturers whose coatings start flaking off after first use), and easy to tune.
Two plies and a damping ring may give the impression that this will be a dead sounding head. Not the case at all - there's still plenty of life, but it is controlled, and those annoying overtones almost disappear altogether. One piece of moongel is enough to get a full tone, free of annoying overtones, but still energetic sound.
Will definitely buy again.

Excellent head
Bennyramone 20.02.2015
This head is for people that want a dry sound. The ring and sustain is short but the tone of the drum remains. There is still some variance in hitting the drum dead centre and off centre so you can still have some variable complexities in your snare drum. If you wanted to further eliminate these rings etc then you should get an O ring or some moongel. Some people think these heads kill the drum, but I disagree. This head is musical and responsive and has its own flavour. If you want an open sound with all the resonance and ring, then get a G1. That is the opposite to this head. In all this head is great for studio and live work.

Perfect for low pitched fat snare sound
HakanT 19.02.2024
I'm actually Remo guy but this Evans Genera Dry head works perfect with my Sakae brass 14x6.5 snare. Especially if you have metal deep body this head is wonderful option to reduce the overtones with the help of the ring inside the head. Highly recommended.

Unbeatable

I love the sound from this drum head. Got it with the new drum kit, and it swapped the factory head for this. It improved the sound a LOT. I highly recommend this head. Quality is great as well.
