One of them completely failed after 7 years. Although that's not an obscene time, it turns out this is actually a common problem with these speakers. Had mine been an exception, I would have been okay with it, but it's not one. It's common, and it's not been addressed by Eve Audio either.
These speakers aren't made to last like other studio monitors. When I turn it on, even without any audio cable plugged in, it starts generating a loud phasing and sweeping white noise sort of. That's similar to what has happened with others', and some in the know says it's the controller chip that's bad, and that seems likely considering the symptoms.
Also noticed is that after just a few years, I'd start having issues with the control knob freezing, so I had to pull the power and restart the speaker. This has happened with both my speakers. Which is likely related to the controller chip as well. That in itself wasn't a big issue since it didn't stop functioning, was easily fixed and happened rarely.
Also reported is that Eve Audio doesn't acknowledge the issue and then have taken no public steps in improving the quality. Needless to say, I can't buy any more speakers from them, as they obviously don't deliver the necessary trust in their products.
It is a shame, because other than that, these speakers are great. I AB-ed them when buying them, and the ribbon tweeters really gives wonderful responsive transients. The control knob is good, and the fade-in and fade-out they do on power on and power off is nice. They deliver a solid punch for their size, also in the low end.
EDIT 26.8.2023: Second one just failed as well, only a few months after the first one. It also generates random noise at power on.
