I was looking for capo for fender neck radius and slightly lighter grip. I use a capo on my electric Fender quite a lot and i felt that the capo to suit 9.5" neck radius would be great. Hard tension grip capos squeeze your guitar out of tune a bit (I know to put it really close to fret, it helps a lot, but still...). And this capo seemed to be the closest that i could find. And all that is for the better tuning stability.
The idea for the Fender Smart Capo is really great. The gripping and freeing it is smart and clever and I have nothing to say against it's build quality. It just does not seem to work as needed. It did not say nothing about it's radius, so I just ordered it, it being a Fender and all that. But it is not 9.5" radius capo and the saddest part - it does not grip strings hard enough. Even moderate bending with this capo is not possible. I'm talking about electric guitar right now. I'm sure that it's not that I don't get the mechanics or don't grip it enough - trust me I tried everything.
But on acoustic it's even worse. The capo does not have enough grip, to hold down acoustic guitar strings (even 011 sized set). Even when you find a spot to get free from buzzing, then again, even slightest more powerful string handling changes the string position under the capo's rubber. And it slowly loosens up. And between the songs the capo change should be quick, just few second and ready to go for another song. But when you have to triple check the buzzing, then it is not possible.
So, I do not recommend it. If you are looking for better tuning stability then look for some other tension-changeable mechanics.
