You know what you're getting.

This is not a Custom Shop Guitar. It isnt even a Classic Vibe or Affinity. But wowzers does this thing have a lot of potential. I bought this as a cheap guitar to leave at my girlfriend's place so I will always have something to practice on and this has ticked almost every box for me.

I put Harley Benton locking tuners on it right off the bat because I have 99 problems and complaining about Squier tuners will never be one. I feel I might have dodged some serious grievances in that regard.

Now, you wont believe me but these pickups are something of a hidden gem. They compare so well against my Fender Blacktop HH Strat pickups, but alas, they cannot be split without opening the tape of the pickups so I replaced them with Tonerider AlNiCo 4 humbuckers and rewired the entire thing with parts from where else, THOMANN!!

My point is, this thing is already great value out of the box (great for beginners), but it also serves as a formidable mod platform for more seasoned guitarists on a budget. My main complaint is that the frets were so unbelievably rough. Bending the strings sounded like opening the gate to an abandoned house. However, I fixed this in 30 minuted with some #1000 Goldo fret polishing rubber.

Sounds great!
blaurebell 22.05.2019
I have small hands, so I always had problems with the regular size fretboard of my old guitar. I also didn't like the sound of that old strat because it was a cheap beginner guitar of much worse quality than any beginner instrument you can buy now (bought 20 years ago). I wasn't really expecting much from this super cheap Bullet Mustang either, but wow, I was blown away by the sound and playability of it! What a great little guitar! Doesn't have that toy feel of 3/4 guitars, but it's a much better fit for my small hands than a regular size fretboard. Best thing: killer sound, I love it!

Pros:
-Holds tune even with 9s.
-Great for small hands.
-Looks awesome, good finish on the body.
-No sharp edges on the fretboard (at least for my standards ;) )
-The humbuckers sound great!!! Thought I would replace them, but no, they will stay where they are!

Cons:
-It's a cheap guitar, so the electronics could be better. The pickup selector switch is unreliable and the pots a touch crackly. I'll be replacing those.
-Bridge, saddles and tuners could use some improvements too.
-The setup could be better too. Not unplayable, nice low action, but there is definitely room for improvement in the intonation department.
-It also made me feel stupid for not buying one of these earlier, haha.

Verdict: Great little guitar, fantastic for small hands, needs some TLC to make it even better. Great platform for modding I'd say.

KJ
The reason why I recommend the Bullet Mustang.
KOREAN JAY 01.04.2023
This guitar is on Squire's cheapest model line. Mustang design guitars are less popular. The disadvantage of this guitar comes from low manufacturing costs. In other words, it is natural that cheap guitars are somewhat disappointing. I just mention the advantages of this guitar so that it is suitable for those who want to choose it.

First of all, the difference between the Bullet Mustang and the high-end Mustang style guitar is the bridge.
The Bullet Mustang has a fixed bridge. This helps maintain moderately stable tuning and playing conditions.

Second, the Bullet Mustang is very light. Only, 2.8 kg. Of these, 0.3 KG is the weight of the pickup. If you modify this with one pickup guitar, you can make it less than 2.7kg.

Third, the Mustang guitar has a 24-inch scale. This is very short. This is highly recommended for people with small hands. Also, the neck thickness is thin. Thinness is very comfortable for a person with small hands. These two points reduce the fatigue of your left hand.

In conclusion, if you're a beginner or a small-handed person who wants a lightweight, easy-to-manage guitar, the Bullet Mustang is highly recommended. In addition, it is very cheap.

Buy a Bullet Mustang.
If you order quickly, the delivery of the guitar to you will be faster.
Your hesitation will only delay the beginning of your guitar playing.
Again, buy the Bullet Mustang now.

G
A true Punk/Grunge machine
Greaser777 11.07.2019
I ordered this guitar to use it mainly for Punk Rock and it seemed to be a good option that is very cheap. I was reluctant to buy a Squier, since my first electric guitar I bought 20 years ago is a Squier affinity Strat that I never liked...but I have to say Squier made huge improvement on their guitars. Intonation was perfect, neck was set up, holds tune very well (too my big surprise) even with the factory strings (9's) after playing a little. However some features feel really cheap, you know you only paid 122 euros when you wanna switch pickups...that switch is a joke I'm afraid to break it everytime I use it. Same for the tuners, when I changed the strings 3 of them were loose as hell. But I really love the sound of that guitar, it feels so easy to play (coming from a Tele) and it's SO LIGHT ! some fret ends are a little bit too sharp for my likings but for that price what could I expect. At least they don't hurt or cut, it's just not the perfect confort, but the neck feels OK in the end. I replaced the strings with Earnie Ball cobalts 10-52 and wow It's a rock machine (what were they thinking putting 9's on a shortscale?) I fell in love with the sound of those humbuckers which are absolutely perfect for Punk, Grunge and Alternative Rock.

Big Difference for Small hands
Didz 04.04.2023
I absolutely loved this guitar. I already have a 94 strat which I bought at that time to make sure I couldn't blame the guitar if I couldnt play properly. FF 30 years and it has mostly been neglected. Cut to the chase, after struggling to improve with my short fingers, I did some reading about best guitars for small hands and settled on this. It arrived and I found it a little toy like but there was no doubt that the neck was way smaller at the nut and I could stretch far easier on the shorter scale but I wondered if it was another buying mistake. 2 days later I plugged it in and it was a revelation, it sounds awesome, I couldnt stop playing it ( badly). Ive completely bonded with it and havent stopped picking it up to play for the last 7 days. It just sounds like what I always wanted to hear, and my hands feel so much more in control. Its not a total solution for small hands, but I feel I can put the effort in for the uncomfortable stretches. Quality seems fine, no its not my strat quality and you can tell somehow but it feels fab, looks fab, it sounds fab and when I pick it up it makes me smile. I had expected to be wishing I'd paid more but Im totally happy with it and would only change something on it if it broke.

Edited: 1 week after writing this I noticed that I was having trouble with chords in on the 1st Fret and realised the setup it came with was really bad, the action was really high, the intonation all wrong and the saddle was all loose and buzzy. Every fingered chord in position 1 was out of tune so I spent some time fixing this and its much better but it shouldnt have arrived like that. I also noticed that one of the mother of pearl dots was faulty, sunk in about 1mm but decided to be pragmatic and not complain. Unfortunately it fell off its stand a few days later and though the fall was really gentle, the strings cut into the frets and rendered it useless without a repair. 2 frets have deep grooves cut into them on 2 strings so its unplayable now. Ive never seen that happen before so I wonder of the quality of the fret material. I will buy a replacement but its a bit upsetting and disappointing.

BK
Disappointing
Bobok Katzer 13.05.2020
While I was not expecting a miracle from a guitar of this price, I had read many good reviews about the basic construction and performance of this particular Mustang. Mine arrived with every single fret sticking out from the neck, resulting in hours of work to file them down to a usable height. It does not stay in tune as is, and I am guessing will require a new nut, tuners and trees to fix that. Pickups are fine, and aside from the fret issue, the neck feels nice. For the money that will be spent upgrading this guitar, I'm not sure if it's worth the price. It seems like it's a lottery, and if you get a good one it's worth it. If you get one like mine, it's not. Buyer beware! Best to try it out in the shop instead of ordering it sight unseen.

Trust in Fender
markgdub 26.04.2020
I haven't bought an electric guitar in about 20 years.

While I don't gig anymore, my acoustic just wasn't scratching that electric itch. With a number of other financial commitments, I don't have a lot of cash to splash on fancy gear.

When I saw I could pick up a Fender at this price, I impulsed bought. Sure, the pickups might not deliver the clearest sound, doesn't hold its tuning too long and maybe the neck might feel like fake wood.

At this price, who cares? It plays well, has lovely action, compact frets force the player to focus on accuracy and it actually does have a decent ring and sustain. Selecting neck humbucker gives decent crunch for fans of Kurt Cobain / Jay Mascis sound and both humbuckers active does give a nice John Frusciante feel.

If like me, you just wanted an electric guitar to goof around on, I highly recommend. It is a fun guitar to play.

The chances of getting a good one are slim
Funeral Musician 01.01.2022
I have tried two of these guitars, and both of them had serious quality issues. Of course, at price this low, I am not complaining about any finish imperfections or unpolished frets. What I am talking about are things that impart (or may possibly impart) the guitar's usability. On the first example, the neck pocket was a couple of millimeters wider than the neck, which could possibly have lead to stability issues in the future. Also, the so-called “skunk stripe” was protruding from the back of the neck. On the second example, the bridge was mounted off-center, causing the low E string to be right at the edge of the fingerboard. Playing that guitar required lots of concentration because that string was prone to slipping off the neck. On both of the guitars, the finish on the necks seemed practically nonexistent, since they felt like rough bare wood to the touch. Buying a beginner something like this might discourage them from playing guitar altogether. This is only good for an experienced musician who knows how to fix all these issues and has the tools required to do so (a fret file, a power drill, etc.). The guitars sound nice and are light, but that is about all.

Incredible guitar for the price
Jimoma 26.01.2022
Nirvana sounds on a budget. If Grunge is the sound you're after then this is a great introduction, flawless finish and plays great, with only a little adjustment on the action needed out of the box
