This is specifically for Fender American basses that use threaded nuts but I'm told it works equally well with Hipshot Ultralites. It works as advertised to increase the break angle between nut and tuner. It seems sturdy enough not to break or bend under pressure.
With the old style tapered (not fluted-shaft) tuners the improvement was marginal at best, carefully winding the string around the post will fix most (if not all) problems without needing this piece of gadget.
But the fluted-shaft tuners seem to have an inherent problem, in which the string sits higher than desired no matter what. Stealth retainer really helps with these tuners, which brings the question: Should Fender charge separately for something that fixes their design problem?
In summary, this is a quality product which does what it's supposed to do but it should be available at a lot less price.
