Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen

It sounds really good, when it works. I've had more problems with this than with a Behringer almost 1/3 the price. It's sounds just a little better, but not enough to justify the jump in price. The software isn't much better, it randomly decides what your sample rate is, protools at 48Khz? now it's there until you change it. Even if you change the default it will just stay at whatever the program put it at. The Behringer always switches back to what it was at before the program was opened. The buffer needs to be at least 512 or it'll start shitting, sometimes even needing 1024. Behringer needs only 256. The volume pot has started to crackle and pop after less than a year of use and these are known for being hard to service or even get inside.
No pad function, so no high level recording (a problem with some vintage equipment). The buttons are all "digital" if you unplug it and plug it in again your settings will have changed back to default instead of keeping it wherever you had it. I've heard a lot of people speak highly of the product but was very disappointed. I would not recommend this to anyone.

The sound quality is excellent and free of any noises, easy to use and well built, but one thing I really didn't like was the maximum output volume in my Beyersdynamics headphones, it is significantly lower than my older Roland Edirol UA-25 sound card, that I cannot hear myself playing, therefore, almost unusable for me with headphones, which is very important :(

I am not sure if mine has a problem, or if they are all like that, but it's a big con for me, because I was actually hoping to get a higher output than my older Roland sound card, instead, I get significantly lower. And the sound quality is imo the same with the Roland, but yet, cleaner from any noise, which was to be expected.

So I am still using my Roland while the brand new Focusrite is now gathering dust. Personally, not happy with the output which is a deal breaker, so overall 3 stars for me :(

TL;DR: crackling and popping audio in Windows. Threads complaining about this problem dating back years with no clear fix. Solution involves fiddling with obscure Windows settings until something works.

I got this to record guitar and I made it my daily driver for audio so as to not constantly switch between pairs of headphones. Got a dedicated mic to use with it.

There is noticeable crackle during audio playback in Windows 10, and there are users complaining about this on the internet for years at this point. I don't know what fixed it for me, I had to fiddle endlessly with sample rate, buffer size and a bunch of obscure Windows settings hidden behind several layers of menus.

Besides this, friends sometimes complain that my mic sounds bad or even static-y or robotic in Discord.

All of these issues are unacceptable for a piece of gear that is supposed to be used for serious audio work.

Solid build, excellent freebies, and amazing sound capture. Just "loved" this. To the point I got another one for a friend.
But then REALITY HIT after some time and now I'm editing this
My first scarlett studio arrived with a damaged Microphone.. I had to return the whole package abroad and wait for a replacement... the new one came... fair enough

A few months in (6 to 8 months) and the new set has - again - a problem with the microphone... it just went BUST out of the blue... an increasing rumble sound as you are connected to the interface till it becomes unbearable and way too audible in recording.

Switched the microphone and then a NEW issue comes in later... a windows update renders this USELESS and the RECODING IS WAY TOO QUIET... Again... I was consistently using this... then POOF... and NOTHING useful from all the blogs I've read... those who have had the same issue are still suffering... most have resorted to using it WITHOUT the official driver and that seems to fix the case though I don't know how

Much as I was excited at first... truth is I won't be buying any Focusrite products again any time soon
