Good for clean boost, not so good for overdrive on itself.
metal octopus 13.05.2018
I got this pedal after watching loads and loads of videos and deciding I was going to go with this overdrive instead of a million other products.
I found this overdrive pedals gain structure to be quiet bass heavy and lacking high-end of the frequency spectrum.
When you use this pedal as a clean boost it the most transparent clean boost with little to no noise whatsoever but dialing in the gain is quiet painful as there is very small amount of presence in it's gain structure even in the high peak mod.
I used a compression pedal in front of OCD to find out if it will make any difference in prescence control but to get a decent amount of high frequency I had to turn the EQ knob all the way to max and turn amps treble to 3 o'clock and it was ok to my ears but nowhere near perfect.

Pros:
1) Very sturdy casing.
2) Comes with a battery inside.
3) (one of if not) the most transparent clean boost you can find!
4) Very little noise.

Cons:
1) Comic Sans font.
2) So much lows.
3) Very little highs.

Hard clipping overdrive vs soft clipping overdrive
2punch 29.09.2021
Before having this pedal, I had no idea what's the difference between hard clipping overdrive and soft clipping overdrive. And the OCD belongs to the hard clipping category. In my case I mostly use it with a tube amp, which in fact, what I needed is a tubescreamer which belongs to the soft clipping category.
The sound itself of this OCD pedal is classic and nothing wrong about that, it's just for me, personally I find this sound is more useable for a bluesy rythm context, less for other situations, not evey solos. So nowdays I use it as a boost pedal mostly, putting drive to minimum and raise volume beyond 12 o'clock.

What to say... it's Fulltone OCD
samoovo 14.12.2020
I've used an excellent clone of one of the earlier versions of this pedal, made by a friend of a friend, and it was my absolute favorite drive pedal. You can get great mid gain sounds either by using the drive knob, either by using your guitar's volume knob. You can get great, full and big mid to high gain sounds as well.
Recently, I bought the real deal and love it even more!
You can not go wrong with the Fulltone OCD.

A Monster of a Pedal!

Beautiful tone is what you pay for here. I was in dire need of something to turn my Marshall Origin 50H (a low-gain tube amp with quite the vintage spark) into something that could match with an EVH.

It does thanks to this pedal.

On lower settings, it adds a nice warm boost, so it's safe to say the OCD can compliment a lot of genres. Once you raise that volume up and dial in some extra distortion, you get dirty and aggressive power chords and very present, almost compressed solos, so - yes, it chugs.

Nice sound!

Happy with this pedal, gives really nice overdriven to light distortion sounds.
I use it for the more overdriven sound and use another overdrive for the lighter sounds. This way I can also use the other one as a boost for my OCD.
This gives me really nice tones, for rock and even metal.
Happy buyer!

I used to have it years ago, sold it and missed it a lot later. So I bought a new one and it makes me happy. I use it as clean boost, overdrive or distortion with another tube screamer. Very nice clean boost and not much noise!

The OCD pedal is legendary for a reason, and given it's built quality, sound and versatility, I strongly believe it will continue to be a legend for decades to come.

If you are into rock, heavy rock or creating riffs, this is the pedal for you. If you are into jazz, go look elsewhere.

I'm sure I'll use this pedal as my main distortion pedal, it offers a thick, punchy tone - the exact one I was looking for!

Really good OD/Distortion
gesucca 17.10.2018
Top Quality pedal, nothing to say about its raw value.

The first one I got had a funny problem on the led (was always on), Thomann replaced it in no time but still.

The switch description is confusing, the truth is that LP means 'Low Peaks', and makes it behave like a really warm overdrive, while HP means 'Hi Peaks' and transform it in a more aggressive and compressed distortion.

Beware the volume settings, it has an INSANE amount of volume. Unity is like at 1/3 of the full range.

To sum it up, this pedal has a really strong character, and it sounds extremely well, but can be intimidating due to its price and versatility.

Using this pedal now and then for more than 1 year and still could not find a nice warm sound yet; a little bit too crunchy, don't think it's suitable for blues.

Excellent

I didn't think too much of this pedal until I heard it "in the mix".

It sounds so much better in a band gig or recording mix than it does as a standalone at home or in the studio.
