Top notch strings for drop tunings!!
Jimi89 22.09.2017
I recently reviewed the 10-60s version of these Zakk Wylde GHS Boomers and this review will be ultimately very similar. Personally, I prefer to go higher than a .60 if I am dropping below C so I decided to try these strings out for C Flat Standard to Drop A.

I've never been able to achieve a gauge that I am truly happy with for these tunings...until now! These Boomers are PERFECT for these tunings, in my opinion/preference.

The good:
They have an excellent sound and clarity to them. I have experienced some bad note bleeds with this gauge from other manufacturers in the past but these GHS Boomers don't seem to have that problem which I am delighted about. They have a nice bright high end with a solid and chunky low end! Great for heavy music and blues.

The Bad:
Nothing....literally nothing!

I would recommend these strings to anybody who tunes really low as they have great life, great sound and a great feel to them too! Not to mention how well they hold drop tunings! 10/10

Best Strings in Sound and Durability
Anonymous 29.07.2014
I play those Strings with a 24 Fret Guitar tuned down to B - Standard tuning, which is 2 1/2 Step down. Those Strings feel great, the Lower ones are still in action, while the other 3 Strings are very fine for soloing, very easy to bend 3 Steps up..

They Sound Great, and i believe they last longer since they are fatter than usual strings.

Definitely buy them again!

Got these as similar to ZW I wanted strings that could be used for detunings without losing tension resulting in a flubby sound. They work flawlessly. Used for D standard, C standard, D standard drop C on the lowest string, no issues at all. I'm sure they would work fine for even lower tunings. Give them a try!

"Woah these are thick.."
EnsiGeetard 03.02.2014
These are HUGE strings. They sound great but takes some time getting used to.

As I just said, these strings are pretty LARGE so it might not fit into your tuning-peg. You most likely also have to file down your nut to accomodate these strings.

I had to cut down the area a little, but I didn’t regret it at all. Sounds so scrumptious, and perfect

When you need things to go brutal
Anonymous 27.04.2016
...but still be able to bend the lighter strings for leads without destroying your fingers, and wondering how the hell did Stevie Ray Vaughn manage to play lead with standard 13s.

These strings are awesome for my 27.75" scale epi les paul baritone. I am tuned from B to B... and although the low B string may feel a little too stiff for easy vibrato, it's perfect for when you need to go to drop A.

If you never need to go to drop A then you might want to consider the 10-60 Zakk Wilde set. Especially if you want to go higher than B standard tuning!

G
quality strings!
GuitarPeter 13.02.2014
I use these strings for my metal band. we tune our guitars very low (to B) and play hard so I need heavy strings of good quality. The GHS boomers LO Zakk Wylde are perfect for my style. Massive lower strings for heavy guitar riffs and comparatively thin upper strings for melodic guitar leads. These strings sound brilliant without being too nasally and they have enough bass frequency for a good punch. Theses strings also don't corrode too easily. String breakage occurs very rarely with this set.

Great for tuning low
Rsav 22.02.2014
I needed some huge strings for low tunings and these are exactly what I needed. I tune down to A on a normal scale guitar (24.75") and have no problems when using these strings (thinner strings get pretty floppy). Also no complaints on the quality, the life of a string is pretty much on par with other big name brands.
