Unbeatable for the price but it's worth upgrading it
shauny155 10.10.2020
I bought this guitar over a year ago now from Thomann and I had to wait a few weeks for it to arrive (which I was informed about in advance) well packed and without damage.
The first thing is it isn't TV yellow. It's more like a Dijon mustard colour which is no bad thing but was a bit of a shock.
The set up was ok but the nut had been cut a little lopsided (it was slightly higher at one side than the other). This didn't bother me that much as I wasn't expecting that much for the price so I took it to my local guitar shop who did a full set up on it.
The neck is beautiful, slim and easy to play. The whole fit and finish of the guitar feels like a much more expensive instrument which for under £200 is just what you're looking for. The Wilkinson Tuners work as they should and the electronics all seem solid and crackle free.
I'm one of those players that likes to tinker with my guitars.
After playing it for a while and doing a few gigs with it I found that the action was a little too high for my taste and the design of the bridge wouldn't allow me to lower it any further so I bought a new wraparound bridge (cost about £18). I also found the pickup was squeeling a bit at high gain settings so I swapped that for another (£35).
With the set up, new bridge, new pickup and a set of locking strap buttons (essential if you want to keep your guitar in one piece) my £189 guitar has cost me about £300. I still feel this was a bargain for such a solid instrument.
If you're looking for a LP Junior for a fraction of the price of the main brand then you could do much worse than this.

Harley Benton DC-Junior TV Yellow
Luthierdan 07.07.2022
I read all the reviews before buying this and decided to buy one.
Firstly all the hardware is very good and the finish is excellent.
There are however some major issues to address if you need this to be a pro guitar tool.
I'm going to list the good points first.

Neck, nice dark fingerboard with expertly fitted frets with no sharp edges.
Neck shape, as other reviewers have said is not fat and not thin, just somewhere in between, I love it.
Pickup ok, seems to be noise cancelling and has a medium output.
Wrap around bridge is not bad and with the stud adjustment screws in the bridge I was able to fully intonate.
Machine heads are good, there's no slip and holds tuning very well.
The nut is white graphite and there's no friction to worry about here.
As I mentioned earlier, the finish on mine is as good as I've seen on any guitar, even the big names.

So far so good

Things in my opinion as a luthier, that will need to be addressed:

Pickup height straight out of the box is nowhere near close enough to the strings, so output is very low and uneven . The pickup will need raising at least 4.5mm to achieve a good balanced output. A dogear pickup shim or two will do this.
The machine heads on mine were all loose , some literally fell of when I removed the strings. The machine securing holes at the rear of the headstock will need plugging as these screws are too short to hold the machines in this mahogany neck, they should be longer.
The 500k tone control doesn't have a smooth taper even when the pickup is at correct height, it attenuates highs only on the last three digits of travel. This should be lower in value, I changed mine for a 250k log and this sorted the problem.
Finally to get max playability and low action from any guitar, fret dressing is usually required.
This guitar wasn't bad but like any guitar it did benefit from having one.

To conclude, I can honestly say this guitar punches well above it's weight and with some tlc will hold it's own with any name guitar out there.
I'm absolutely blown away with it.

Thank You Thomann
Too much G.A.S. 19.01.2020
First of all I must say Thank You to Thomann for making this replica DC Junior. In the guitar world they are not as popular as others but I have always desired one. The real ones are stupid prices and I thought I would never own anything like it. I bought it for the look alone and didn't really care what it sounded or played like to tell you the truth, I just wanted it because they look so cool. BUT!!! the damn thing plays and sounds fantastic! It is now my go to guitar out of my many as it has a pretty original sound. The only thing I did to it was raise the PUP with some washers to get a slightly louder output and back the tone off a bit as full blast it's a tad shrill. (this dog eared PUP have no adjustment) Thomann if you make a black version with a black, white pin strip pick guard I will buy it also.

T
Got a good one
TomGoss 24.05.2022
This is possibly one of the nicer guitars I've ever owned, and I've had dozens.
But....I've had to do a but of work. Also, I've already ordered a couple of these and one was returned faulty and the other was sold on after giving up on it. I decided to get this one because I wanted a TV Yellow junior and took another chance...and it's paid off. Lower tier Harley Bentons can be a bit of a crap shoot but if you get a good one and know how to set up a guitar you're laughing.
This one came very well set up and it seems to be well constructed with good wood. Very resonant. The finish is great as well. But the bridge had issues with some of the saddles being rough and uneven. I had to replace 2 (I had some spares handy) and use a file to sort out the others. Most people would have had to return this because of it, even on a budget guitar this wasn't acceptable, but I have repair experience so I could fix it.
Now it's a great little guitar for the price. I've ordered a spacer for the P90 which is too low IMO (another thing Harley Benton should consider before selling these) but overall I'm happy with what I've got now.

Beautiful finish and tone
Rob Mac 09.09.2020
I'd wanted this for a long time. I'm in Australia. Unfortunately there were problems with postage (coronavirus?) and the cost was much more. The guitar finish was perfect except........ the bridge wasn't in the right spot. I had to extend the position screws by small metal blocks at the posts of the rear of the bridge. It now intonated perfectly using the adjustable saddles. It plays and sounds great. Perfect vintage Rock/Blues machine! I sent my info to Thomann with pics of my mod and they kindly sent me a discount. A great company to deal with.

Nice choice for P90
Ts Soon 08.08.2020
If you are looking for a guitar with P90 pickup to try out, this one is a perfect choice. Easy to play and quite small but the head always falls down by the balance of guitar, that's the one should be careful for accident.

Dirty Mustard
Erdna Eduan 30.12.2019
OK, forget the "TV Yellow", it is Dirty Mustard. Get over it. Move on. Fiesty P90 and good fretwork;, action little high and intonation rated subjectively at about 90% correct. Only the pots are a let-down: on or off with no real travel - exactly the opposite of what you want in a single P90 guitar. Buy it and love it for what it is: a ridiculously affordable but entirely playable entry-level guitar. Ironically, exactly what Gibson intended the original Junior to be in the late 50s is what Harley Benton is delivering today. Buy it!

Great Guitar
Stewart V. 29.07.2020
The fit and finish of this guitar is superb and at this price point absolutely amazing. Only one thing lets it down - other reviews say the same. The non adjustable P90 Roswell pick up is far too low. An attempt to compensate has been made by the manufacturer by screwing out the pole pieces but it is still too low and the tone is too "thin" as a result. So I bought a 3D printed 3mm shim from a company in the UK and problem solved. Nice fat juicy P90 tones.
Come on Thomann - the Roswell P90 needs the design adjusting so that it sits at the right height - or at least fit a shim and this guitar would be perfect

Two Shades
Pocket Ryder 08.03.2021
I bought this guitar because I have always wanted a simple, no nonsense, one pickup guitar. The guitar itself is nicely done and sounds really good for all intent and purpose. I would definitely bring it on stage with me once we are allowed to do shows again.

The only thing I would want to report is that the guitar came in a two tone hue. Meaning, you can see where they glued the 2 pieces of mahogany together and when it came time to paint the guitar, the top half piece of wood was darker than the bottom half, thus resulting in a mis-match in the mustard yellow color that the guitar was painted in. It doesn't change anything structurally or playability-wise, but visually it is a bit disappointing. I am in the process of seeing Thomann will suggest as a solution for me.
