Harley Benton D-120NT, you're going to be astonished.
Anonymous 10.02.2022
I've been playing acoustics for 30 years and I've owned probably 20+ guitars over the years. Had a few epihones, about 8 fenders, Jack and Danny, Yamaha's etc ranging from £100 to £500. When I saw the 120NT at £58 I thought it might turn out to be just another Chinese copy of poor construction and sound so I read all the reviews which stated the opposite so I took the plunge and bought one. First thing I did was remove the plastic nut and saddle and replaced them with bone which I do with all acoustics. Set the action at 2.5mm on the 11th fret and .75mm on the first fret.
The build quality is fabulous and I can't find any flaws anywhere either in the finish or the wood grain. I've had the camera inside and its immuculately put together, flawless again. I've spent 3 days trying to find the catch, because there must be one at the price but I can't find one.
How does it play? You'd need to spend £200+ to get the same sound or even more if I'm 100% honest. It's loud, the overall sound is similar to an Epi Hummingbird but much better than an Epi AJ200 because it has better sustain. The rest of the guitars I've had can't even approach it, not even close. I'm so impressed I've ordered a set of Grover tuners in gold plate and a set of abalone dot inlays just to bring the looks closer to the sound its making. It sounds like a solid top, the camera inside was inconclusive as to whether it is or not but I can't see any plywood layering on the profile of the sound hole but it sounds better than many solid tops I've owned so I suspect it is.
How Thomann have done this has got to be one of the biggest mysteries of the 21st century. Get one.

Am I reading this right
Paul Barry 30.01.2021
Wow,wow, wow ,I was well surprised, solid spruce top ,X bracing ,maghony back &sides the tone woods are here ,action is great and neck so playable ,I have seen guitars 4 times more expensive that don't have this quality, not only suited for beginners but a one for all,it's a workhorse which you can bring anywhere ,and will only get better in time due to its solid woods ,and oh the price I pinched myself amazing value when all the middle men are taken out ,sometimes there is a snobbery when prices are cheap and you automatically think something is lacking quality, not here a excellent guitar ,I highly recommend

the guitar came in three weeks, it would be even faster if it were not for the Russian post. there were two pickguards in the kit, a lot of protection on the guitar itself. frets need to be sanded, but these are trifles. the sound of the guitar is good, spacious, readable. I did not notice any defects, it glitters. highly recommend for purchase

Great twang for your buck!
Joolsxx 17.05.2021
I bought this as a side thing, for travelling or for when I can't be bothered to fire up the electric but still wanna hear what I play. I've been pretty happy so far. It sounds nice and clear, it looks good and the finish and details are all pretty decent for the price. The guitar not too light and feels sturdy, which is a bonus for me: I don't like instruments that feel too "flimsy".

It plays pretty easy thanks to the big frets and smooth neck, no sprout or anything to complain about in that department. The tuners could be slightly better, but maybe it's just the strings that needed stretching or replacing. I used it to teach a beginner, as well (me on electric, her on this one), and she also found it great.

A solid acoustic at a friendly price, would recommend to any beginner or even advanced player who wanted "just one more guitar" without breaking the bank.

A solid acoustic for the price
ArbiterDE 20.06.2024
My first purchase when I moved to Europe, I couldn't bring my guitar with me and I've missed playing it for some time and decided to hop on Thomann after a bit of searching on the interne.

I needed something that was cheap but was good enough for me to enjoy at the same time, I was skeptic at first due to the price but after doing some research, most reviews for this guitar was positive.

Decided to give it a shot and ordered one for myself and I have to say it definitely delivered and then some.

Now to the guitar itself, the good;

- Very bright sounding tone
- Great Acoustics
- Great playability
- Required minimum setup
- The price (lol)
(and bonus points to Thomann for allowing COD when I haven't gotten a bank account)

The bad(?)
- The bright tone might not be for everyone
- Action was a little high
- The strings it came with might be a bit hard on beginners
- Tuners are not the best quality

-

Overall it's a solid buy if you're looking for a cheap acoustic with good quality to boot, finger styling is a bit hard on this guitar but still managable after some time.

Amazing value! Exceeded expectations a lot.
Andrei M 17.12.2018
This guitar was purchased for my friend who started to show an interest to guitars. It is unclear how this hobby would develop but it was a present to his birthday, he became 35 years old.
I have purchased several Harley Bentons during this year: GS Travel Mahogany (3pcs), ST-62 Deluxe and CLF-200 before D-120. So I have a little experience from this "pocket" brand of Thomann.
And I have to say this one is the best 63 Euro I ever spent. From the finishing you can see that it is inexpensive instrument but.. no flaws. At all. Well, some laqueur leak below the neck joint that no one can see. That's it. Neck is straight, frets are well set and not sharp at the ends even though you can feel their edges with your hand.
I filed down saddle by 1,2mm, tightened truss rod and after that replaced strings. The only thing one MUST do to hear best sound the guitar can provide - change stock strings. I took Rotosound JK11 phosphor bronze - and guitar started to sing when string comes in tune!
That's it. Sound is similar with wife's Yamaha F370 which costs 3 times more.

Wanted a Guild...but...
Pizzaman 11.02.2024
After loosing my Old Guild 12string (stolen) I was on the hunt for something similar...bought quite a few nice guitars from Thomann, so why not? This 12 string punches way above it's price! Put my favorite strings on, some brass pegs for extra sustain, and it made me forget the Guild... to be recommended!

Disappointed
Dusko 11.03.2015
After buying the superb quality Harley Benton L-450 Plus electric guitar my trust in Harley Benton products went up big time, so I was confident to order a steel string acoustic from HB.

I received this guitar fast from Thomann (well done) but I would have rather waited a few days longer just so they could check it before sending it to me. I mean, the truss rod was hanging out of the neck body! This could have been noticed easily if someone actually looked at the guitar.

On top of that the tuning pegs are of poor quality. There is this dead space when tuning (you turn and nothing happens for quarter turn).
And the fret wires are too sharp on the higher end.

The guitar body is fine and its a light weight guitar. I couldn't play it because of the faulty truss rod. The neck needed adjusting, the string buzz told me so. Thomann will take this guitar back without fuss which tells a lot about their great customer service. I just wish they check the guitars before sending them. I mean it is Thomann that pays for the return and that cost money.

I will be saving a bit more and get some high end Harley Benton acoustic instead.

Eerste gitaar
BORFA 30.12.2022
Hele degelijke beginnersgitaar.
Heb zelf geen ervaring met andere gitaren, maar deze voelt gewoon goed in de hand.
Eigenlijk een no-brainer om als eerste gitaar te kopen voor deze prijs.

A bright, crisp acoustic
Anonymous 23.06.2015
I bought this for my daughter - truth be told it's a little bit big for her but she is very enthusiastic about learning some chords.

This is a big, beautiful, bright guitar, with a clean, crisp sound. It's solidly built, and the binding looks very impressive. It's loud - really loud - and you can really bang out the tunes on it.

The finish is exceptionally neat. I've had a good look around and there don't appear to be any flaws that catch my eye. It handles well on the neck and seems ideal for beginners.

Overall, I'd say this is a substantial guitar with very impressive quality for very little. You need to find reasons not to buy this.
